With new Intel machines on the way, one can only assume a new FCP by years end. What kind of features/requests are people looking for.

    I have a short list:

–Multi-codec timelines (software or hardware via AJA, BM, etc…)
–Better/Updated Media Manager (which continues to be an issue for people)
–Capture window with more feedback (timecode/record indicator, etc…)
–Capture window with live audio meters!!!– again, more feedback.
–Increased support for control surfaces…would love to see EQ and other plug in support similar to Logic.
–Introduce external hardware for color correcting and plugin parameter changes (MIDI or USB based).

Just a few items off the top of my head. There are definitely a few workflow enhancements that can be made… like slow-mo and deleting in a timeline that doesn’t shift all of your clips.

If you hit the Backspace (delete) key that is next to your +/= key it won’t ripple delete.

FCP 6 Suggestions – Of course more real-time effects/just more effects
    Also better generators
    Finally —-BUILT IN ROTOSCOPING—-

You can have built-in rotoscoping right now, with Silhouette FX Roto.

    Have a wonderful day.

Better native handling of image sequences- you should be able to treat one like a clip in both the browser & timeline.

A method of having realtime timecode out as a sequence plays. Maybe do it using midi timecode. There are lots of boxes that will convert MTC to SMPTE timecode.

Yeah…you’re actually right… I was typing too fast and just lumped that into the whole slo-mo thing.
    My bad.
As far as built in Rotoscoping…. nice, but I’d rather do that in an effects application like AE or Commotion (which is STILL very usable and great for roto work). If a proposed roto tool is anything like their garbage mask plugin, I’ll pass.

A reliable way to trace a clip back to the original bin it came from, even if that bin is from a different project.

A curves-based color control similar to the one in Photoshop.

    1. A preference to turn off ripple effect when speed changing a clip in the timeline.
    2. A way of showing clips in the browser that have been used in the timeline. (like having them highlited or colored differently in the browser, once placed on the timeline)

[Frank Nolan] “2. A way of showing clips in the browser that have been used in the timeline. (like having them highlited or colored differently in the browser, once placed on the timeline)”

You can do this now. Either use the Find command in the browser window & select “Used Media” or “Unused Media” in the pulldown menu, or you can select all clips in the timeline & change their label color.
