On DVX user I read a post by Shane Ross about monitoring with the Apple cinema displays. Is anyone doing this? I had a look at the monitors and they certainly have the resolution and image but I’m not sure how you would connect the LHe to the DVI input on the cinema display.

    Hi Walter,

Would that also enable LHe owners to capture as PRORES422 in the same way as we would with HDV?

Thanks bob and all. I’m fairly familiar with the control panel now but its quite daunting.

I’m outputting a project shot on DVCPRO50 to digibeta. I guess I’m not familiar with what to output, is it always best to output 10bit or should I output lower res for certain applications?

Do I output SDI to the digibeta or component? I will download the manual for the beta deck and have a look at the inputs.

April 8, 2007 at 10:18 pm in reply to: Why is that FCP 5.1.4 seems to read .mxf

If you rename the quicktimes how would you ever re-link to the original mxf files for an edl? Wouldn’t everyone appreciate the time saving by simply being able to add mxfs to the project rather than wait for FCP to re-wrap them? My powerbook takes about half realtime to perform this.

Also a big issue with the wrapping process is the fact that FCP seems to change the gamma quite dramatically on the .mxf. Compare the image in the mxf player to the same clip on the timeline and you will see the difference. This bothers me hugely and I’d much rather be working with an identical image to that captured in the camera. I’m still trying to get to the bottom of this and find out whether FCP is butchering my shots or its a playback and display thing.

Another sale here. Looks great Andrew. My time to shoot this stuff is worth more than the $50 you are asking.

    Thanks everyone,

Walter you threw me there, I posted sometime ago regarding the kona cards and mentionjed the G5. Our FCP suite is actually built around one of the last G5 quads which was one of the first to include pci express so it would be the LHe if i decided to buy. The bottom line is we do need it now so I guess that answers my question really.

    Thanks again

  • oops. Page up/Page down. Seems to documented under nudge layer rather than preview keys.

    Shane,

could you explain why you are updating the firmware? Sorry to be a pain but it would be great to know what issues this fixes as I haven’t updated our camera or cards since I bought them a year ago.
