HVX-200 firmware download
Posted by Shane Ross on March 6, 2007 at 6:36 amWhere can I download the latest version of the HVX-200 drivers, to get the camera to version 2.03 (currently 1.03). The documentation simply says “from the P2 support desk” and I am having a dickens of a time finding it. I need to find that VVVSI****.zip file and load it onto the PC card.
Oh, and can this be done on a mac? Or do I need to find a PC in the neighborhood?
Thanks guys.
Shane

March 6, 2007 at 7:13 amWe ran into this a while back. At that time, I ended up calling Panny service and was told that upgrades were not being offered. I also confirmed this with Jan. However, if things have changed, they would likely post them here: https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/ or here https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/p2indexe.html, but I don’t see it. My guess is the only chance you have of upgrading firmware is to send the camera to a Panny service center. Jan, is this still true? Please let me know if you learn otherwise.

March 6, 2007 at 7:04 pmHi,
Go to the HVX Resources page on our website, they will link you to both items you want, although right now it looks like the firmware upgrade site for the camera is in Japanese. I have sent an email on this one. The P2 card itself needs to be updated with a PC, sorry, but you can do the camera with a MAC.
To do the camera, once you can read the page again is to downloand and save to an SD card the software that is there. Do not open it. Take the SD card and put into the SD slot on the camera. Put your camera into MCR mode and it will recognize the card and offer a new menu inviting the upgrade. There are instuctions on the site so it shuold be very straight forward. But wait till it is in English again.
Best,
Jan

March 6, 2007 at 7:38 pmMan, that took some digging. I see why you couldn’t post a direct link…MICRO site pages.
Yup…Japanese.
SO I need to update the firmware on the P2 cards and the camera? Man…Panasonic isn’t making this easy.
I want my EASY button.

March 6, 2007 at 7:52 pmTry this one:
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/proav/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/soft_e.htm
Cards may not need an upgrade, but if you are having problems then I would cover that base as well.
Best,
Jan

March 6, 2007 at 7:54 pmNope…sorry Jan.
“Not Found
The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it.”Thanks though. I DID find it, it is just in Japanese, like you said.

March 6, 2007 at 8:28 pmShane,
could you explain why you are updating the firmware? Sorry to be a pain but it would be great to know what issues this fixes as I haven’t updated our camera or cards since I bought them a year ago.

March 6, 2007 at 9:05 pmI am having issues importing P2 footage with FCP 5.1.2 and FCP 5.1.4. Only 20-30% of the clips import…FCP says that the remaining ones are corrupt. BUT, if I import with FCP 5.1.1, they import fine. Others are having this issue as well, but not everyone. Others import just fine. The ones that are importing fine report that their camera is running firmware version 2.03, while me and several others with issues are running 1.03. So I figure it is the firmware that is the root of this issue. Not entirely certain, but worth a try.
