I often freelance out of the house between gigs. Cabin fever can get to you. So I use those times to network and educate myself on various programs and read about technology. Force yourself to make a few business lunch appointments. Reach out to people with similar interests. I’ve made great friends and connections through this very forum.

  • I’ve tried reformatting all the drives and ran disk utility and disk warrior. All the signs are pointing at the eSATA card. I think I’m going to have to change it.

    Thanks.

There is no loyalty in business. Don’t forget that. You’re obligated to do what’s best for you and vice versa.

The thing with pluraleyes is it creates new audio files when it makes the multiclip so I thought it mightwork. What a pain! Don’t panic, you’ll figure it out.

    Check out Pluraleyes https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html

They have a trial. It syncs by analyzing the audio. It’s very easy to use.

Be sure to save your project files with the editors initials the date and version number . When sharing sequences always duplicate the sequence and make changes to the copy so you can easily reference the original if need be.

January 2, 2010 at 6:31 pm in reply to: rough cut definition

Is this a scripted or unscripted documentary? If it’s unscripted you just signed up for a huge endeavor and I’m guessing that they’re expecting something presentable.

I have yet to be able to show anyone a true “rough” cut based on the definition.

A lot of people (particularly in the reality/documentary) genre, consider a rough the main cut prior to color correction, animation and soundmixing. They’re not really expecting anything terribly rough. More of the cut that would be screened prior to the online process.

Anyway, I’m just guessing. It’s impossible to know what your client’s expectations are. But find out and report back!
