Apparently someone has too much time on their hands. Still that was freakin’ awesome!

Here’s what I do. Try keeping your current settings. Export using compressor.

Under settings go to Other Work Flows. Go to Web. Go to streaming. Go to Qucktime 7 compatible. Select H264 LAN Streaming. Drag that to the project your outputting. Then open up your inspector window. Click on the 5th tab on the right and adjust the cropping. Where it says “crop to” select the 4X3 option. Right now the frame size by default will be 4X3 but is set to 640X480 if that’s too large change it to 320X240. Target your destination and click submit.

I’m not sure what all that other crazy stuff you’re doing is, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

Email me if you have problems and I’ll send you some screen grabs or save the settings and email you.

    Good Luck!

  • Check your system preferences.

Open the “Energy Saver” System preference, and enable the “Higher performance” setting if it’s not already set to that.

  • If you need more head or tail, after you’ve thrown your clip on the timeline, use option command f where your cursor is and it will take you to the source clip and then you can recut it with the source clip.

Alot of times I’m working with media that’s already been logged and sub clipped by others and have gotten slammed, and found that to be a quick work around.

I’ll take all the clients that you divorce!

Here’s the bottom line. Basically, if any relationship isn’t mutually beneficial then it’s time to call it quits. Generally though, this should be done at an early stage. You get a good idea after one project if you want to work together again.

Also, if business is really good, and too much is being put on your plate, then that means it’s time to raise your rate.

Client, Significant Other, Mother In Law, it doesn’t matter who it is, if someone is upsetting you or treating you unfairly and you’re suffering, then dump them. But before you do so, take a look in the mirror and figure out if the situation that you’re in and that you’re not happy in is truly the fault of the client, or perhaps comes from within.

I don’t really see the value for you or the client to add your name to their corporate marketing materials. If you have a nice relationship with your client you may ask them for a reccomendation about working with you and use that and their logo on your website, or ask if you can use a portion of what you worked on for your demo. It would be inappropriate to put your name on their companies marketing materials. Not to mention, it’s not very likely that it will help you.

November 20, 2009 at 7:20 am in reply to: voiceover industry – questions

Have you ever checked out voices.com It’s a good place to get a v/o on a budget. You’ll need a good demo. For years, I’ve hired great v/o talent I’ve found online, I send them a script, have them do a read through over the phone, and then they record it, they even clean it up and email me a link to a wav or aif file. I believe on voices.com they have situations set up where you can even audition for certain things and then people will select you based on that. It’s probably like the “craigslist” for announcers/narrators, but, it may be a good starting point. Check it out!

    Best of luck.
