    Hello all,

I was hoping to get some insight as to what is the best workflow for 2 editors to work on the same project using Final Cut Pro 7.
I’ll currently working on a TV show pilot and have a junior editor helping me out with the rough cut, once he’s done with the rough I’ll polish the edit add transitions and color correction.
We’re in a bit of a time crunch so my idea to save time is for him to provide me with each on of the 4 show segments separately so that I can get to the online edit of each segment while he’s rough cutting the next one.

My questions is: What’s the best way to provide me with the rough cut? Do we do each segment on a separate fcp project? Is there a way to export an EDL for each segment and then use seamlessly on a separate edit bay?

    Thanks in advance

    Miguel

    Hi Miguel.

I do a lot of this on a show I work on, and there are a few options. If you have all of your material on two workstations, simply send projects back and forth. The reconnects should be straightforward if you’re managing your media properly.

You might want to make sure that you take care of each segment of the show, so if your junior editor is working on a certain part, you can be doing something else and then implement his additions later on.

    Hope this helps,
    Bjarki

Be sure to save your project files with the editors initials the date and version number . When sharing sequences always duplicate the sequence and make changes to the copy so you can easily reference the original if need be.
