  • guys… this is all a bunch of gibrish!
Anybody that uses these cards professionaly has paid 2 to 3 times the cost for the computer system they use them in.Two Weeks later that price is down 10-20%. After running my business for a few years now, I want my vendors to make a profit, Haveing spent over 3k for my first bluefish card, its return on investment was over 4000% the last two decklink cards and hdlinks return on investment is 12000% or more. And were squibling about under 1k. HELLO!!!!! It’s a free world economy, and in my opinion Black Magic has hit the big home run! Even if they drop this whole product line and create a all new one, I am on the band wagon just as I was when they started. We all know tech changes, AND MY Vendors better change with it.

    Hi richard
Archive as in client walks in with 45 tapes you capture 1sec to 2min off each tape then cut a spot /show. After all is done you archive/ that media back-off to tape so 6months later when the client come back they dont need to bring all 45 tapes again. All pro editing software’s “discreet/quantel” have this.. <<<< MAKE SENCE? ok well i get two more then.. How about the render of audio after capture! what a pain! How about capture multi channel audio. not useing 5.1 How about...... oh thats two already. regards

    Hi richard
First off for me would be A ADOBE manager that reads ands responds on this board. Now if I’am wrong and it does happen then my bad.. Having a company Rep, there to take some heat helps… Two after speaking with the product mgr. at trade shows and seeing there direction I worry. Back to the original question. not counting your #1, How about a good archive routine for layoff back to tape. and my #2 is seems like pro capture sdi cards are having a rough time creating good real time results. Wish adobe would help with this, to catch up with final cut in that arena!

    hey greg.
yes its a nitemare when you have both ntsc timecodes. Hopefully ADOBE will one day listen to editors and get there premadonna head out of there A$$. But i guess the lesson here is “you get what you pay for”! and yes I’ll continue to use there product till another comp product gets it togather..

    hey gbecker.
I also have decklink stuff, first off when you created the project it allows you to set time df/ndf… It defaults to df.. that effects the timeline and all the clips that are captured…”ie. makes ALL clips that TC.” It wont just look at the actual TC and capture it correctly. Where they came up with the name PremierPRO baffles me.. So the bad news is to get the TC rite you should recapure with project setting in NDF. The blackmagic default is DF. Now for some good news. “maybe cause I never tried it”
I know there is a way to change the TC of a clip something like highlite the clip in the bin and in one of the pull down menu’s there something to do with TC or change TC check it out. I dont know if it allows df to ndf changes.. Premiere deals with TC kinda wierd. It marks the first frame of a clip and then just counts frames.. so if you know what the first frame of your clips actual TC’s are you might be able to change them then hopefully everything would jive. “remember the :/; thing”.. Also under projects settings “in the opened Project” change it to NDF and see if that converted all the clips.. sorry for the ramble
    good luck

    hi trent
Just a idea here.. My hd link will blink off then come back on also.
Not often.. What I see is that the driver wacks out.. so I uninstall
and reinstall and all is well.. I could see that it would appear as a short in the unit. You might want to give that a check. Also just wondering does you compurter have troubles turning off? when all is working fine on mine it wont shut down by it self, it just restarts. If i’am way off base, sorry about that..

July 30, 2005 at 12:59 am in reply to: decklink and premiere pro 1.5?!

    Hi Dan
Just wondering what system your on that does what your asking? I cant speak much about FCP but I hear it works real well. I have two decklink sys w/premiere pro. After editing on discreets smoke’s for many years, client that work with me now on premiere say I work faster. “guess that means I was slow on the smoke” I do about 75% of my jobs in 8 bit.. The ones that require many layers and lots of composites get done in 10 bit. As far as the slo-mo yes its a render. and no time warping in premiere “grrrr”. they have plug-in out to do it but I’am sure they render. As far as realtime some of the efx are realtime some arent. The duration of the efx have lots to do with if flows.. I was playing around with some tests today and was surprised at what I was able to do. I think the way premiere is writen needs some boosting.. Even though its multi proc aware, it tends not to max them.. Fast/many drives are the way to go. I use U-320’s 8 x147g. two busses. Declink has been great releasing drivers, And each time many features are added. And Yes to DV and Uncompressed in the same timeline. Hope this helps
