    Hi Rahni
Yes you have to use the 5.1 mode..and yes you have to use the front and back.. Exporting to tape isnt the big issue. What gets me is capturing.. premeire dosent offer any ways to pan or split 5.1 captured wav. oh well that what we have to deal with now

    Hi shane
I see that also but theres a easy work around. “reverse field order”
Since this happens in realtime its not really a big issue. Iam sure there looking into it. As far as that being the reason not to invest in there product so be it… I was one of the original windows version buyers and They have impressed me each and every driver release.. Do I want more “yes” but I do with everything I purchase.I have yet to see a perfect product, But from where they came till now is FANTASTIC. And Iam sure it will only get better.
There are other options out there, but I think if you look hard enough you’ll find flaws also… Good luck with what ever it is that the hard earned cash buys….

    I agree with Aanarav.
Avid’s to me were way to keystroke intensive. As far as what Tim said about the mouse… well I use a large wacom tablet, and that works great. Use to them from many years on a smoke/flame systems. Premiere is great for moving/trimming clips.. about as fast as it gets.the compositing is ok.. I know after efx is a good compositor but all that smoke/flame time for me = combustion. Rendering is system related. I use decklink and bluefish444 cards the system fly. With combustion I have a fare sized render farm.
Only knock I have with premiere is no archive to tape utility.
And there Product Manager told me “why would YOU want to do that”

    Hey Lemmur
Let hope its not a dongle fix…. My work around now is any jobs that require the 4 ch capture are done on my bluefish system. Only draw back for me is that sys only has 600 gig storage and its on a slower computer. BUT they released some fantastic drivers not long ago.. ie. realtime efx!!!!
so maybe its time to move some cards between computers.. If you come up with a way to resolve this let me know please and i will do likewise.

    hi lemmur
It seems like A.nobody needs four channels or B.its not possible. Have you tried setting capture mode to 5.1? this captures the 4 channels but I havent found a way to either sepperate or pan or iso or do anything with it. Hopefully someone from black magic will respond. My cards only take embedded audio.

    hey shane
it looks like they use the cpu. but some how they wrote the drivers to work with direct show. cause all premiere real time engine efx are realtime. Also have a nice feature that captures dv compressed avi’s via sdi. I would love to see it on a faster system, but i have the U320 raid on board and that helps with real time. Also seemes like everything they do is 10 bit. would like to see a 8 bit option.

    Hi Shane..
Answer is YES and wildblue/av! the last driver release is fantastic! I have it on a dual amd mp2400 sys with u-320 raid 0’s Its able to do three realtime streams with color correction in real time. whats real nice is its scaleable so faster cpu’s = more realtime. I use both decklink and bluefish. and there both great products. My opinion is decklink leads in the hardware side and bluefish leads in software/drivers. One other note, many moons ago bluefish was on this board and then they made a knock about Quicktime which Blackmagic replyed back.. well after all is said and done bluefish captures qt and decklink captures avi..”in premiere” go figure.

    Hi all,
I’m also waiting. However I just installed the newest bluefish444 drivers in one of my systems, and wow bunches of realtime efx in the windows world.
Very Impressed. This isnt a shot at decklink since I have 2 of there cards and a hdlink, but I am concerned that with all there new products the software development team is streched. So I’ll wait..
