If Adobe were to release PP2.0 at a major show before the end of the year, IBC is the likely candidate.

The question is— will it be in good enough shape to do so? Only Adobe knows for sure.

I’m getting tired of the memory leak in 1.5 What a Pain!!!!!!!!

So for all you kiddies out there with nothing better to do. To quote WHOPPER for War Games “Shall we play a game?” But not global thermonuclear war.

This is called The 2.0 “New” Feature Set Game.
Each person is allowed 2 features that are at the top of their wish lists.

    I’ll start:
    1. Better media management . I’m just grinning thinking about it.

And for #2 an obscure one — Integration with Digital Asset Management Systems where producers can log the stuff and low rez proxies are created as well as the high rez(better yet mxf integration but that’s 3– Sorry) – All iterations of each clip are tracked by a database that premiere updates using the soon to be released xml version AAF.
    Now it’s your turn.

    Hi richard
First off for me would be A ADOBE manager that reads ands responds on this board. Now if I’am wrong and it does happen then my bad.. Having a company Rep, there to take some heat helps… Two after speaking with the product mgr. at trade shows and seeing there direction I worry. Back to the original question. not counting your #1, How about a good archive routine for layoff back to tape. and my #2 is seems like pro capture sdi cards are having a rough time creating good real time results. Wish adobe would help with this, to catch up with final cut in that arena!
    regards

    Just two? Hmmm. Tough decisions.

    1. Better use of HDV material – both native and Cineform. More realtime effects for HDV and the ability to capture to an intermediate codec in two steps, capture then convert.

    2. Optimize the Adobe Media Encoder to export HDV material.

Those of us who shoot HDV have gone back to overnight renders and exports.

    OK my turn…

    1. Interlacing problem (high contrast foreground/background generates ants crawling especially in motion)
    2. Have some of the useful 6.5 tools/options back (e.g. Timeline measures, 1s, 2s…, selective attributing pasting, )

    Rayk,

[rayk] ” How about a good archive routine for layoff back to tape.”

Could you go into a little more detail of what functionality you’d want?

    thanks for playing the game.

I have many but after 0.5 secs came up with these….

1/ H LOCK CLIPS (the ability to move audio and video clips up and down tracks without them ‘snapping’ or slipping out of their timeline sync positions.)

2/ the ability to use the ‘cut and paste’ keys on many functions (eg reel name/clip name in capture window – only works with mouse dropdown menus)

3/ To be able to ‘link’ media to alternate format media. eg an offline clip that was captured as 2 track audio can be linked to a clip that was captured with 6 track audio (yeah, ok this is a bug that they know about but I think we are allowed 3 entries if one is a bug that needs fixing)

    Hi richard
Archive as in client walks in with 45 tapes you capture 1sec to 2min off each tape then cut a spot /show. After all is done you archive/ that media back-off to tape so 6months later when the client come back they dont need to bring all 45 tapes again. All pro editing software’s “discreet/quantel” have this.. <<<< MAKE SENCE? ok well i get two more then.. How about the render of audio after capture! what a pain! How about capture multi channel audio. not useing 5.1 How about...... oh thats two already. regards

    1. the ability to nest clips into a single block, like FCP (dragging them into another sequence is not practical)

    2. DVCPROHD/ P2 support.

oh sod it…. timewarp, multi camera editing, animated titling, fix the project trimming issues, ability to clear attributes on multiple selected clips.

I wish if you copy and paste a title in the timeline – change it and save it, then the timeline title would update…. Instead you have to import the new title, and drag it onto the timeline and then apply the effects/transitions – a huge waste of time.

I could go on, but i wont.

    Karl,

    Thanks for playing.

It’s tough for just two- hopefully the two listed first are the most important.
