Have you deleted something that is connected in expresso? That will stop everything from functioning. Search for one that say object undefined.

If you create the flexible parts with splines and sweep nurbs you can control the stretch and everything quit well. No dynamics needed.
This tutorial should get you the results you want.

I think you need to use seperate lights for each shadow. Then isolate each object to a light in the scene tab of the light.

February 17, 2010 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Cinema 4D Net Render

Net render is for multiple work stations (or render farm) your machine will take advantage of all the cores with out it. As for RAM the 32 bit version of C4D cannot take advantage of more than a couple gigs however this plays a very small role in rendering..

Your render times are directly related to whats in your scene. Since you have a lot of hair other factors like your lighting, ambient occlusion or global illumination, highly reflective (with blur) materials, Sub Poly displacement are going to play huge roles in the render time. You should even look at the amount of segments you have per hair.
I have a simliar system with osx 10.6 and cinema 11.5 and I am rendering 250 000 hairs in 15 seconds on a landscape object. So i suggest you take a look at your scene and see what you can optimize, bake or fake.

I am not sure that you can. However rendering out an object buffer will give you the mask you need.
Or in your compositing software using the blend mode “Multiply” will remove the white.

February 10, 2010 at 9:08 pm in reply to: animate an emboss?

    Depends on your detail level.
Is it so deep that you need to actually model the impression or can you get away with animating a bump map or displacement?

I guess you could make the text editable and move the points that you want.

Place the Hair object and the refrence object in a NULL and move that.

  • I could be wrong but I do not think so.
You can however use it in the displacement channel of a texture.
