November 17, 2012 at 1:47 am in reply to: TIFF to Final Cut Gamma Shift (After Effects – Final Cut – Workflow)[Jack Jackson] “The problem is that I need to render image-sequences from AE due to the fact that I can rerender certain parts of the sequence. I would hate to loose this adva”
You can also rerender and export as QT movies certain parts of the sequence.
Using Intraframe codecs you can export 1 frame long QT movies.

November 16, 2012 at 6:41 pm in reply to: TIFF to Final Cut Gamma Shift (After Effects – Final Cut – Workflow)This workflow is too complicated and without much benefit.
FC do not support 16b RGB. In the best case, the color will be crunched to 8b and may be causing the Gamma shift as well.
The best you can export going from AE to FC is Prores444.

Apple 10b Unc is YUV/422.
The only YUV/444(4) I know in the market is Sheer.
Not sure if they still are in business[pat kelley] “I’ve exported ProRes 4:4:4:4, which in QT player states that it is 8-bit”
All the Prores family are YUV/422, except Prores444(4) that supports 12b RGB&YUV.

[Bob Cole] “Incidentally, last winter I had a major hassle exporting files from FCP7 (from a variety of sources, not just EXCAM) to a major (big 3) network news operation. They were on Avid PC’s, and apparently a generation back, definitely not in sync with the latest Quicktime-to-Avid format”
QT EX files can only be read on MAC and IF YOU HAVE FC INSTALLED.You can try exporting the EX files from FC using the “Export to SONY XDCAM”. Then chose MFX.
Another thing that may work is using the free QT > MFX converter from Convergent-Design. Is a rewrapper. Fast.
https://convergent-design.com/Downloads/nanoFlash.aspxIf you go the H264, make them MP4, no QT.

The Animation codec will do it because is 8bRGB and will clip below bit 16 and over b239, but may cause few color issues.
For me this sounds to some kind of FC misfunction.
I would trash the “Constant Frame” folder and the “Waveform cache” files, and refresh FC Preferences and repair Permissions.
As I mentioned on my system the “RGB Limit” works perfectly.

November 16, 2012 at 5:03 am in reply to: Client requesting a Custom HTML, need advice. As Michael say.
If you restrict the video to be watched on your Vimeo site, will also be restricted to be played from the website is embed.[Michael Gissing] “If your client has their own web site then why can’t they embed the video as a Flash or HTML5? If they have a webmaster then I would talk to them. Otherwise the client should set up their own Vimeo site and upload to that where they will be given the HTML link code to embed. “
Right that.
If your client prefers to host the video on Vimeo, tell him to open a Vimeo PLUS account, otherwise the clip will be recompressed after a short period of time and the quality will decrease.
