Use the third option, and If your clips looks seem squished down in FC and OK in QT, have a look in the FC brownser and see if the column “anamorphic” is checked. If so, uncheck it before to bring your clips to the time-line.

To me that sounds like a field-domminance problem. If you are setting upper-first footage in a lower-first time-line, or the opposite, FC try to correct the difference in the field-domminance aplying a shift-fields filter to the clips in the time-line. The problem is that your KONA try to do the same so the fields order is chaged twice, and the result is wrong order. At least its happens like that with the Blackmagic cards. The solution (if is this the problem) is to uncheck the shift-field filter in the clips and the videocard will do it OK.

But don’t mistake NONE (RGB 444) with 8/10bits Uncompressed (YCrCb 422). The first one make huge files.

Sorry Trevor I couldn’t answer your post about seting up a monitor for PAL but using the NTSC bars.
You ask me about the results taking in account that PAL ans NTSC are different color spaces. In fact they use basically the same colour “filosophie” and this doesn’t afect to the phosphorus (?) of the screen. In many production facilities are working normally with the two standards and they use the same monitor. The monitor detect the format of the incomming signal and sets it self in sync, but the screen dont have to be adjusted every time.

You can do it directly from FC using QT convertion (mov to AVI), but as Rich says with MPGstreamclip you got more options than with QT.

PAL are second class people. There is not a single document in the whole internet telling how to do it.
Although I work in PAL, what I do is to calibrate my monitor in NTSC mode using the FC NTSC Bars and the NTSC method for calibrating. Once is calibrated, it doesn’t mather that you play PAL or NTSC stuff.

For the shake of the space..If you can not keep them in 8b Unc I would sugest you Photo-JPEG at the top qualty. Anyway have a look to the web site of onerivermedia.com/codecs/. There is everything you need to know about the most part of the QT codecs and you will find very interesting information.

PD: Sheer can be a good solution. Unompressed 8/10b and quite small files, but seems they are out of business. -
I think progresive can be better if you intend to animate your graphics in FC so you avoid any interlacing related problem. If not there is not much need. FC works fine.
