Yes it can be a corrupted clip. I think that happens to me once and I did as you says. I dragged all the clips from the capture folder to another one and them put them back to the folder in groups of few clips every time and opening the project untill one of the grous started to give problems. Them I put the clips of this group one by one untill I discovered wich was causing me the troubles. But this happes to me once in almost five years using FC. If you find that is not a corrupted clip clean the prefferences and if even like that doesn’t works can be the project what is corrupted. in this case what I do is to open the problematic project and a new one, and I select and drag everything from the brownser of the old project to the new. Anyway whenever a project start to cause problems I try to keep appart one of the AutoSaves generated before the problems appear. Atleasst you recover all the job done untill that moment.

I tryed to post this yesterday but..I agree with Oliver. I would recomend you use AE or Shake. With these two applications you can import the numbered stills as a sequence and manipulate it a a normal movie and you only must set it 50% speed to get your 30fps. As Oliver says, set not frame blending because you just want every frame repeated. For paning and zoomning these programs are also more appropiated and you can get better results than with FC. to avoid any look of frame being blended, export in PROGRESIVE mode and disable any MOVEMENT BLUR. If you don’t go to resize you don’t have to care about interpolation, and if you go to treat the images in Photoshop, export the files in this format. If you want to treat the images, unles are lanscapes or pictures without movemenet, you should deinterlace the still frames. I would recommed you to do that with a good filter in FC, because the de-interlacing filter in PH is not one of its highlights.

If you open a new Composition, when you choose a Prest, the pixel Aspect Ratio change according with the Preset. if you are working NTSC DV 720×480 (4:3) the pixesl should be D1/DV NTSC (0.9).

Did you try to set the QT player to”high quality”? Command-J. Click Video Track, and check the High Quality option.
Usually the QT plays at a medium quality.

I think that without increasing the bit deapth such “HIGH PRECISION” wouldn’t have no meaning. The other question is to know wich filters work in YCbCr and wich only support RGB.

Hi,
I work with a completely different equipement (Mac, FC and Compressor and in PAL), but just to point you that if your film looks well in an interlaced monnitor, the field order is correct. In the scens with a bit of movement would look horrible if wrong. Quite often these images look not so good in a not interlaced (PC i.e.) monitor. That is more noticiable in the images with movement. To avoid this or you use a movie player that allows playing single-field or deinterlaced as the QT player do. Or make a deinterlaced version to be played in computers.
And, just a thought, Encore should accept upper or lower-first movies. As long as I now all NTSC is lower-first (isn’t it) and I wouldn’t understand the need of changing the field order to every single DVD made with Encore.

I do not want to make fre epublicity, but The Orphanage (Magic Bullet) has just released an aplication call COLORISTA. Its seems like ColorFiness (works in 8,16 or 32fp) but under 200 US$.

PS: I think the FC 3 bands CC do a very good job. -
..But if you are working legal, try MPGStreamclip to process the .VOBs of the Video_TS folder.

.dv is the format used by IMovie, in fact is the same thsn a .mov using the DV codec, but the information is enveloped in a different way. .dv Streams use 32Khz sampling audio (that is different matter that 32b floating point). FC works with 48 Khz audio, any other sampling rate audio must be rendered. You can get the audio ready for FC fro MPEGStreamclip if you export the audio as .aiff 48Khzs.
