Open your still in Photoshop and go to the IMAGE MENU> Pixels Aspect ratio and choose the one of your original footage. Then Photoshop will display the image properly and not like square pixels.

    No Mark:
I’ve been for many years a Video editor-operator twith quite short technicall background, and also with quite hort technicall support. Yes you are right that many terms has loose theyr meaning. The truth is that when I started to learn about video I had to learn a lot about NTSC and PAl standard, magnetic recording, etc. At that time if you wanted to get a job editing video you have to show a good knoledge about those technologies. Working in a studio with video-editors, video-mixers, effects-generators, wave-forms and few video-desks, all in sync was fun.
Any way I think that we have lost a good opportunity to clarify and unify a bit the technicall language. Since the digital video is being developed for the manufacturers without much intervention from the governmets, as used to be, each one use a different terminology.
And sorry if I get excited when I talk about these old artifacts (not digital compression artifacts:-) I love them.
    Cheers,

NONE is a 8b RGB format. When we say uncompress in relation with video codecs, normally, we talk about codecs that work in the YCbCr space.

March 22, 2007 at 4:39 pm in reply to: exporting an mpg2 with final cut pro ?

    Rich,
I’m not sure if DVDSTP could manage MP2 audio (MPG1 Layer II). I think only could work with PCM (.aiff,.wav) and AC3. I think that DVDSTP3 even couldnt use MPG2 muxes files. I think ffmpgx can do that audio and mux the files. Any way i think nobody use that format today. The audio is really low quality.
    Tom,
I guess Apple still selling the MPG2Export Componet (used to be around 25$). But you can use it to export only video. In the end you gonna need other application to put the audio together. Any way if you have had problems with Compressor, I’ll recommend you to try again. From the Apple’s MPG2 transcoder is the best with a big difference. You can control all the process. Not in QTExpMPG2, nor in DVDSTP. Anyway Compressor won’t give you a MPG2 with the video and audio toguether. The most you can get is an MPG1.

You can save the Animation as a Favorite so it will show-up in all your FC projects (Unless you trash the prefferences). Click the clip with the Animation and in the EFFECTS menu you got the option.

Long ago Appel promoted the use of RT OFFLINE easy set-ups for that purpose. The truth is that I’ve never used it and I don’t know if renders fast enough to be worth but is supposed to work well for RT preview.

Just click in the clip that got the animation and Copy (Com-C). Them Control-click in the clip (Or click-Option-V) where you want to paste the animation and when the menu opens choose: Paste Atributes. Then choose the atributes you want to transfer from the first to the second clip. In your case “Basic Motion”. That’s all.
