When you install Sheer you got dozens of Easy set-up for capturing and for set your sequence in FC. However you can set your sequence easily by your self in FC. Just set a DVCPro time-line that fits your footage and in the sequence setting change it to Sheer 8b Unc 422 codec keeping the rest of the setting as for DVCproHD. Don’t forget set the “options” in Sheer.
Although DVCProHD is compressed and Sheer not I think that you don’t go to get much more bigger files with this codec because the capability to shrink the fil (losseless) is amazing.
i swear I don’t get any benefit from the Bitjazz people but I use it since more than two years and I recommend it to everybody.

The most compleat information about QT codecs you can find it here:
https://codecs.onerivermedia.com/
[Daniel26] “One last thing. When dragging a upper field (odd) source to the timeline and then adding
a lower field (even) source to the timeline how does the sequence react. Will the digi footage
run smooth while the dv footage jitters?”
If your sequence is Upper-first, the digi footage will run smooth and your DV footage crap,
If the sequence is Lower-first. will be the opposite.BTW, Borgis, did you had a look to the Sheer web-site? I would like to compare it with ProRes but I’m still in 5.1.2

Hi Kyle,
make your self a favor and have a look to Sheer.http://www.bitjazz.com/sheervideo/
I think is what you need. The guy of the premier will need only the free reader.

So what you want is Letter-boxed (16×9 on top of a 4×3 screen) isn’t it?
Duplicate your sequence and un-check the Annamorphic.
Double click one of the clips in the time-line to open it in the viewer window.
In the Motion tab go to Distort. Change the Aspect ratio from 0 to 33. Now the clip look alright, no?
Now copy (Com-c) the clip in the time-line. Select all the clips and Option-V (Paste attributes) when the window open check “Distort”. All the clips should change to the new Aspect ratio. Thats all.

Hi Johny,
Yes I thoutgh you were exporting in RGB.
If you are working with DV, you shoudn’t change the gamma of your Mac monitor. Think that when you see your video in the FCs canvas FC IS ALREADY CHANGING THE GAMMA for preview purposes so what you get in you canvas is how will look (more or less) in a PC or a TV set. If you change the gamma by your self you will miss the visual refference. There are other applications (Shake,AE ) that you have to change that gamma of your screen to fake the gamma of a TV or PC, but not with FC.
If you make a search in googles (PC TV Mac gamma) you will find a lot of information about this particular matter.

I don’t see the point of working in FC in RGB unless the most of the stuff you are putting in your time-line is RGB and you want to end-up in a RGB. If you work in Y’CbCr you can work with more bit-depth (10b instead of 8) and as long as .m2v is YCbCr too, you avoid the unpredictable jump from one color space to the other.

Is not necesary that convertion. All the video and graphic application ( Thanks God) take in to account the total number of pixels. Video is shown in computers at 72 pixel per inch wen is shown at 100%. DPIs are important for printing.

Nic,
You want to burn the TC in top of the image, isn’t it?
You can do it with the Filters> Video> Tc Reader or TC Generator depending if you want to burn the original TC of the clip or a new one.

Capturing is not a hard job for your computer, basically is just to write. You can use the Activity monitor to see howmuch CPU is useing. However when I’m capturing, rendering or compressing I try to avoid open other applications. I surf the web or use Photoshop and listen music while capturing or rendering but I open those application before to start the capturing or rendering.
With a Mac a bit OK you shoud’t have any problem. However if you can see how many things together can do a Big Mac, have a look to this interesting web-site:https://www.barefeats.com/octopro5.html

Berr,
In the Brownser you got several columns indicating the properties of what you got in your projet (sequences, clips, graphics, audio..). Scroll the Brownser window to the left and you will find a column marked “Annamorphic”. When you import annamorphic footage to FC you have to make sure that a little mark appear in this column. If doesn’t appear you must check it by yourself otherwise FC treat the clip as 4×3. When you check it you can see in the viewer how chage from 4×3 to 16×9.
Normally FC only recognice the aspect ratio of the clips that you have captured with FC. If you export from AE, Shake or any other application, FC doesn’t know if is 4×3 or 16×9.
