    Hi.
I am very very new to FCP6 coming from an Avid Symphony background.

Is there a complete list of codecs for every possible format I can have a look at somwhere?
Also I am running FCP on a Macbook Pro at the moment. SD and HD seem to run very well
with no dropped frames using the ProRes codecs.

This I know maybe a silly question but can I not just use this codec for everything I take in?

One last thing. When dragging a upper field (odd) source to the timeline and then adding
a lower field (even) source to the timeline how does the sequence react. Will the digi footage
run smooth while the dv footage jitters?

I am very sorry in advance if this sounds all to simple.
    Thanks for any help.

Absolutely. I do this as well.

but beware that anyone you share files with has to have fcs 2 installed
to get the prores codec for playability.

You get even more codecs if you install kona or black magic cards.

The most compleat information about QT codecs you can find it here:

If your sequence is Upper-first, the digi footage will run smooth and your DV footage crap,
If the sequence is Lower-first. will be the opposite.

BTW, Borgis, did you had a look to the Sheer web-site? I would like to compare it with ProRes but I’m still in 5.1.2
    Cheers,
