Try this, I find this method useful. Fast and effective. All the timecodes are preserved and you can easily matchback to all source files.

Are you sure that you are actually merging them using the merge clip command and not just syncing the audio on timeline only?

I don’t think that only lining up audio and video and then making subclips creates merged clips.

Look for anamorphic column in browser, check it and it should work fine.

  • Hi Shane

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
My footage is RED 2K @ 24 fps. The export that I am sending to compressor is ProRes 4444 @ 24 fps though.

    It’s Trutype.
I want it to be available in Typewriter Text. So can’t use Boris. That system doesn’t have any other 3rd party plugins also.

can’t you put the same video on upper layer and mask it so as to reveal only the edge feather of lower video layer?

    Why not go for H.264?
You can easily get a mp4 file using MPEGStreamclip. I do this quite often.

I use this setting when exporting files for quick preview

    Compressor H.264
    Qualty at 50% to 65%
    Frame Size 640X360
    Better Downscaling Selected

One more thing, maybe the compressors that you are using have presets with mulipass setting on.Since you are not bothered about quality, you can avoid multipass compression.
