Fastest way to export
Hello,
I have 2 hour long HD footage on time line; I want to export this as quick time file which can be played on PC and mac both as soon as possible. Since its a rough edit I do not care about the quality. Also, I want .mov to be very small in size. I have tried various compressors but they are taking a lot of time and giving me a huge file size.
Can somebody suggest me the right compressor.I’m using FCP 7.

Two hours at HD…want to make it a SMALL good quality QT? This won’t be done quickly.
Unless you know the fine art of compression, best to use the presets in Compressor. QT 7 streaming…choose one. Export a small section of your project…like 10 seconds. And try all the options to see what looks best. Then use that. But know that the better it looks, the larger it will be.
Again, Compression is a fine art.

Why not go for H.264?
You can easily get a mp4 file using MPEGStreamclip. I do this quite often.I use this setting when exporting files for quick preview
Compressor H.264
Qualty at 50% to 65%
Frame Size 640X360
Better Downscaling SelectedOne more thing, maybe the compressors that you are using have presets with mulipass setting on.Since you are not bothered about quality, you can avoid multipass compression.

Matrox compress hd…comes with several presets, do a send to compressor…it will transcode faster than real time while letting you continue to work in fcp.
