Seems Nick and I were running in Admin mode (which I thought may have had something to do with it.

But for anyone searching this topic, this may be a solution.

    Good luck.

Roger. Thank you for this solution. Found this after two days of searching the internet, posting with Cow and logging with Sony Support. This thread didn’t even come up when I searched Cow for drag and drop issues. Stumbled upon it somehow. Very serendipitous!!

I knew I was running SVP12 in Admin mode but can’t for the life of me remember why I had to. I guess when things start to go wrong again I will maybe change back and see if I can still D&D (as I used to be able to I might add!!) Aaaaaaaargh.

    Thanks for your reply Steve.

Tried reinstalling previously and did it again for good measure after your suggestion.

Still no good though. Still can only use the Explorer within Vegas itself!

Might download Vegas again and see whether that may work. No reason why it would be different of course but one never knows eh?!

February 8, 2013 at 11:21 am in reply to: Drag and Drop from itunes – not working

    Thanks Grazie.

Yep, those Apple products work straight out of the box, but it’s their way or no way!! Can’t stand it. It’s just that iTunes was a great program so I have it loaded on my pc with over 50,000 tracks that it organises for me.

My issue now is though that, with the newest version, it seems, I can no longer find a piece of music in iTunes and simply drag it onto the time line.

Very frustrating. Need to go through Vegas Explorer now which is not the same as playing it in iTunes.

February 6, 2013 at 11:26 am in reply to: Saving work space set-up. Keeps disappearing!

Thanks for your responses. I have tried this numerous times, whenever I have to restart SVP12 in fact. I recreate my workspace, save and then close VP before reopening. Never seems to have worked though.

As you can see from the attached file, the window on the right appears to show all the previous times that I have had to save my layouts. These are in the TEMP folder which SVP suggests as the default (as in the top left window).

Interestingly, when I click on the Browse button in that window it opens the SVP12 folder in a “Roam’ folder within ‘App Data’.

    Now I am totally confused!!

Hmmmm. I don’t (yet!) have any of these plug-ins although some of them look mighty interesting. Downloaded the two free ones BUT, I can’t install them! “Error opening file for writing”.

I simply downloaded the files and tried to run them but no go. I have the email from Sony with new serial numbers but . . . .

I know this is a bit open-ended but, any ideas anyone? DO I need something else installed previously?

    Thanks for any suggestions all.

(Just noticed, lots of ‘buts’. Sorry!

November 4, 2012 at 2:14 am in reply to: Best use of trimmer when editing a long clip?

Thanks for everyone’s input here. Various options and ideas. It’s just nice to know that, as Steve said, when the timeline is very complicated and cluttered, one can always retreat to the trimmer! I do like the idea of creating ‘zones’ (? – my word)in the clip in the trimmer and importing all before deleting alternate zones on the timeline. This at least allows for a quick scrub through one’s footage. Don’t always need to resort to the trimmer but nice to know it’s there!
    Cheers.

October 18, 2012 at 11:12 pm in reply to: new video card crashes pc when loading Vegas

Hi Adrian. Just browsing this forum and found your post. No responses so don’t know if you have resolved this issue.
My first suggestion is to head into Options/Preferences/Video and turn off GPU acceleration. You are right, your card only has 48 CUDA cores and you will find that your processor will overtake the card quite easily. My understanding is that this will GREATLY increase the chance of a crash.
Hope this helps although by now you probably have a new card, one that works hopefully!

October 5, 2012 at 10:36 am in reply to: Vegas 12 crashes when rendering

Like you Jim I am running an Nvidia GTX550Ti card. My driver is allegedly the latest (9.18.13.623) but, like your work bench, it seems to have problems with SVP12. Crashes almost on start-up. Works quite happily with GPU rendering turned off.

The link Graham refers to seems to suggest, to me anyway, that these cards should work with SVP11 and 12. SVP11 worked for the most part but would often crash for me until I made changes to running the program in compatability mode.

I can live with this but a bit annoying since I purchased this card (at a consumer sweet-spot at the time) given Sony’s then apparent advice.

    Happy rendering!
