Paul,
Walter will disagree with me here, but..
My clients won’t touch a J3, they call it a mickey mouse VT. The timecode not updating properly in shuttle is a big gripe.
And from my perspective, the jog knob is horrendous. There is poor if not any dropout correction on SP too (if people still use that)Its cheap though…

Don’t you just love the BBC? Makes the licence worth paying
(I’d quite happily pay double!)https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/tvbranding/picturesize.shtml
There is an excellent Photshop file here that includes 14:9
Almost as good as the PAL safe area in Shake 🙂

September 1, 2005 at 6:51 pm in reply to: HD onlining, delete unused media within clips?Yes, use media manager to make a new project It is quite well explained in the reference books how to take ony the media used.
One problem, beware of nests. Conform the nests in a timeline first as they loose the original timecode reference.
If you have a problem with a clip not being ‘trimmed’ then use media manager on that.Hope that helps, if anybody has a better solution, I’d like to know too!

September 1, 2005 at 6:46 pm in reply to: Importing image-sequences doesen’t work rightYou could always convert them in Quicktime Pro before importing the converted movie.
Having a lot of still images really slows down FCP, especially opening & saving projects.
Converting in Motion works well too.Peter

[Andy Mees] “maybe worth heading over to the feedback page for that one”
I’ve been onto Apple re a refresh folders as this is even more desirable when working with shared storage such as XSan.
You might not always be the person who puts the material into a bin! Also they need an import files shortcut, I know there is an assignable button, but I like shortcuts 🙂

FYI
I’ve always been told that digibetas momentarily draw a large current on powerup.
As my electrician friend is wiring up my house this week, (X10 & Indigo if you are interested) maybe I’ll get him to put his multimeter across my digi and find out!

I have both and although I haven’t done any precise measurements, I reckon the Nvidia is faster.
It will also do 4K textures and can render in higher quality, although I haven’t tried this with either cards yet.The upside of the ATI (apart from the slot thing) is it is the only card Final Touch will recognise.
