    HI,

    Here’s how to do it:

    • Apply BCC Blint to the clip
    • Set the Pixelchooser to On
    • Set the Pixelchooser region to inside rectangle
    • Position the rectangle over the ring in the clip
    • Set the Glint Threshold parameter value to a high value, perhaps something like 85

    The Glint should not be appearing only on the highlight of the ring. If the ring is moving in the image, then use the built-in Motion Tracker to lock the Pixelchooser region rectangle onto the ring.

    Do you see both video tracks when you enter the RED custom UI? Or perhaps to rephrase this, are you seeing the same thing or a different thing when viewing the result in the Premiere Pro UI and the RED 5 UI?

    Hmmm … are you running RED standalone or as a plug-in? Are you running a lot of other applications at the same time? What are the pixel dimensions of the image that you are attempting to import? Can you open the image in another image editing application, such as photoshop? If so, try saving it out as a .bmp and see if you can import that image into RED.

    Hi Jim,

    I’d be happy to do that for you.

    So, let’s say you have a very small spot of dust to remove from the image clip and that it is static, and does not shift position from frame to frame. Follow these steps to remove it:

    • Apply the BCC Pixel Fixer to the clip
    • Zoom in on the spot so that you can see it clearly
    • Use the on-screen point controls to position Point 1 directly over the spot to be removed
    • Adjust the Size parameter value until the spot is no longer visible

    The filter will repair the spot on every frame – there is no further work needed.

    Now let’s say that the spot is too big to be eliminated with the BCC Pixel Fixer filter. For larger spots, we need to use the BCC Wire Remover filter.

    • Apply the BCC Wire REmover filter to the clip
    • Zoom in on the spot so that you can see it clearly
    • Click on the View pop-up and select Preview Area from the list that appears
    • Position End Point 1 and End Point 2 so that the spot is covered
    • Click on the View pop-up and set it to Render

    At this stage, the spot should be gone. The filter does this by pulling in pixels from the area surrounding the dust spot. In some cases, you might want to make an adjustment to the Feathering (this softens the edge of the fix for the spot) or the Width (this adjusts the width of the repair zone). Sometimes you might want to add a little bit of noise to further hide the fact that you repaired the spot – this is done by setting the Noise parameter value to something greater than zero.

    I just reproduced the issue on my system. Very odd alright – I’m not sure why this is happening or if this is something that is under our control but I’ll bring the issue to engineering and ask.

    Meanwhile, as a workaround, you might want to pre-rotate the image using BCC DVE, then use the BCC Corner Pin filter to pin the rotated result.

    That sounds really odd – there is no built-in restriction in the filter and you should be able to generate as many keyframes as you need to complete the task.

    The particles will expand to fit the size of the filtered layer so if you need them to fan our further you’ll need to expand the size of the layer to which the filter has been applied.

    If the spot is very small, then my suggestion is to use BCC Pixel Fixer to eliminate it. If it is larger than a couple of pixels, then I would suggest using the BCC Wire Remover.

    I’m very surprised to hear that you did not get a call back after leaving your name and number with our support – this is highly unusual. I’ll ask over in support to see what happened.

    Regarding the use of the BCC 3D Objects filters – you have to have them on separate layers in order for you to use more than one in a scene. You mention that you went to a different comp so I have to assume that you know this.

    You can have as many instances of BCC 3D Objects as you like, there is no real limit as far as I am aware.

    The Pyramid Blur filter generates a fast, basic, out of focus / blur effect.

    The Lens Blur is a blur filter with shaped highlights (bokeh) in the defocused (blurred) portion of the image. The highlight shape is derived (conventionally) from the aperture of the focusing lens and is either circular (mimicking a reflex / mirror lens) or multi-sided (mimicking conventional glass lenses.)
