Hi ernie,

The difference is that in RED 5 there is an additional step whereby you have to instruct the filter to apply the motion. To do this, the only difference is that with the motion path filter selected, you need to click on the Apply Tab in the Control Panel and select Position from the “Apply To” pop-up.

Hi Itamar,

Are you using the most recent version of BCC 7? You should be using BCC 7.0.7.

Also, you might want to drop the polygon count in the Render Group located at the top of the Extruded Text filter to see if that helps.

Hey Dan,

I understand better now your request.

So with that, here’s my recommended workflow:

• In After Effects or any other compositing or editing solution, position and frame the clip so that the portion of the clip that you are interested in using is centered in comp. You’ll use the comp size as a way to crop the clip.

• Then render out the clip to disc.

• Import the clip into the compositing or editing solution where you are going to use UpRez and follow the recommended steps for uprezzing the clip within that host. There are instructions for this in the help file of the UpRez filter.

By the way, which host are you using for all of this work?

Hi Dan,

I think the best way to go about this would be to crop the image in Photoshop and then to use the BCC UpRez filter to perform the scale routine to bring the cropped portion of the clip to HD.

Hi Mike,

I apologize for any confusion that our versioning may have caused.

You should download the installer from our web site at:

borisfx.com/downloads

Then, before you install anything else, completely remove the BCC 704 software from your system using the Add/Remove option in the system Control Panel.

Once that task is complete, run the BCC installer. This will install the latest plugins that we have for the Sony Vegas host. To check that you have the latest BCC installer, right click on the installer and click on the tab labelled Details. In this tab you should be able to observe that the true version of the filters is 7.0.5.

I think there may be some confusion with regard to the version numbers alright – I’ll see what I can do to help clear that up on the Vegas forum.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you regarding all this. I thought I’d post this to your thread as well as posting the response to the other thread that I just saw on this subject.

Here’s the scoop thus far:

• With the current BCC 7.0.4 installer that is up on our web site, you need to rerun the installer after you install Vegas 11 to get the plug-ins to show up. The license does not change and the plug-ins will automatically recognize the presence of the license which was used when the BCC 7.0.4 filters were installed and licensed for Vegas Pro 10 on that system.

• The 7.0.4 installer that we have up on our web site does not list Sony Vegas Pro 11 as a target host because that version of the host was not available when BCC 7.0.4 was introduced. We are creating a new installer that will include a specific option to install directly into Vegas 11 and expect to have that up on the site today or Monday at the latest.

• We recognize that there is an issue with using the BCC Optical Stabilizer from the BCC 7.0.4 package in Sony Vegas Pro 11. This is a brand new problem and is something that we are working to resolve. Once we have resolved that issue we will offer an update.

• Boris RED 5 operates normally in Sony Vegas Pro 11.

So that’s the story thus far. When we have more info, such as the updated installer, we will post again to this forum so that everyone is aware of the update. Ditto for the problem with the BCC Optical Stabilizer filter.
