UpRez: more than just SD->HD?

Hi Dan,

I think the best way to go about this would be to crop the image in Photoshop and then to use the BCC UpRez filter to perform the scale routine to bring the cropped portion of the clip to HD.

Thanks, but I think I didn’t make clear that this isn’t for a still, it’s a motion shot, and I assume I can’t do what you’ve suggested in Photoshop.

Which brings me back to UpRez. Do you know if it (or some other plug-in!) can be used to work on a selection of a frame (cropped for enlargement), or is it only for uprezzing a full-screen image (ie, full DV-to-HD)?

Hey Dan,

I understand better now your request.

So with that, here’s my recommended workflow:

• In After Effects or any other compositing or editing solution, position and frame the clip so that the portion of the clip that you are interested in using is centered in comp. You’ll use the comp size as a way to crop the clip.

• Then render out the clip to disc.

• Import the clip into the compositing or editing solution where you are going to use UpRez and follow the recommended steps for uprezzing the clip within that host. There are instructions for this in the help file of the UpRez filter.

By the way, which host are you using for all of this work?
