Hi Jim,

It seems as though the 32 bit installer wasn’t updated to seek Vegas 11 but even so, I have a feeling that it might just work. Can you give it a shot and see what happens if you just run the installer a second time? If the plug-ins don’t show up after you do this then we can help but I’d like to know if just running the installer again resolves the issue.

Just apply the BCC Brightness-Contrast filter, set it to create a darkening (or brightening) of the image and use the built-in PixelChooser to set up the vignette. Hi Don,

Although the BCC Color Match filter excels at performing 3 point color matching between clip pairs, the filter does not constantly read and analyze clip color or luma changes across time so if the color is changing every 3 seconds or so, you’ll need to adjust the filter manually using keyframes to compensate for this change. So while it is indeed possible to achieve the result that you have in mind for this piece with this filter, it’s a little more than a drag and drop solution.

In BCC 8 we have a brand new filter that will automatically compensate for luma shifts, which will probably handle the job nicely for you. It’s called BCC Flicker Fixer, and you can instruct the filter to automatically compensate for fast, or in this instance, slow flicker or luma shifts. Hi Dan,

What a co-incicence … this is the second posting that I’m responding to in one morning regarding the help system in BCC and probably the second time ever that I’ve fielded a question about this. Too funny.

Anyway, it may be that the help file did not get installed with the product, although this is unlikely. You can check for it’s presence by looking here … HD/Library/Application Support/BorisFX/BCC FxPlug7/Documentation/. You may also want to check the permissions – they should have been set automatically by the installer but if you haven’t run the Repair Permissions utility recently you may want to try that to see if it helps.

Hi Bill,

I have Vegas 11 and BCC 7 set up and when I click on the ? button it launches Adobe Acrobat and displays the help file for that filter. I’m not mentioning this for any other reason than to say that on this particular system it is operating as expected, and that the problem that you are seeing is not typical.

Now, with that said, do you have the products installed onto the C drive or on another drive attached to that system? It may be that installing onto a drive other than the C drive may be causing this to happen. I’m not sure of that – it’s just a thought.

If you need to access the help file and can’t get to it by clicking on the ? button in the Vegas UI, then you can always get to it by going to this directory:

C:\Program files\Boris FX, Inc\BorisContinuumComplete7.0 OFX\Documentation

Hi Pero,

When used as a plug-in, the length of the Boris RED effect is determined by the length of the clip to which it has been applied. So your workflow should be thus:

• create an edit in the timeline that is the length of the effect that you want
• apply Boris RED to this edit
• enter the Boris RED interface
• go to the Library Browser and select the template that you wish to use
• click on the “Insert” button in the Library Browser to add the template to the Boris RED effect
• make any adjustments or tweaks
• click no the apply button to return to the editor interface

I’m not 100 percent sure of what the cause of this problem may be, but I have a few things to offer for suggestions, some of which you may have already tried but it’s worth a shot.

• make sure to set the RED transitions / effects to full quality and full resolution before rendering
• make sure that the timeline is rendered fully and plays back smoothly before going to DVD
• if you are using apple compressor this might be related to the issue – try doing it bypassing compressor
• disable opengl setting in RED
