December 15, 2011 at 2:27 pm in reply to: Strange flikkering and render mistakes using Star Generator in BCC 7Very odd alright. What are the dimensions of the frame? What (if any) parameters in the filter are set to animate?
Thanks,
Peter.

December 15, 2011 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Strange flikkering and render mistakes using Star Generator in BCC 7Hi,
What is the exact nature of the errors that you mention? Can you describe them in detail?
Meanwhile, would it be possible for you to try to do this in After Effects with the same filter to see if it works in that environment?
Thanks,
Peter.

Hi Davide,
Actually we’re expecting to make that available this week.
We’re having a free webinar today that you might find interesting on using RED within Premiere Pro … you can find all of the details on our website at borisfx.com: https://www.borisfx.com/events.php
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Trevor,
Q – 1. What’s your best and/or simplest way of creating this within AvidFX/Red? (Screengrabs or files of composition would be great)
A1a – Have you checked out the Library Browser? There are lots of cool pre-made transition effects preinstalled on your system, all of which are accessible via the Lib Browser window. You can insert (add) or open (replace) any transition from the library into the timeline.
A1b – So to achieve the transition effect – just trim the media clips and butt them together in the timeline. Then apply the RED / Avid FX transition between the clips. Then enter the RED / Avid FX UI and start compositing your effect. You can then save this as a project to the Library and reuse it on other clips or projects.
Q – 2. If the BGwipe is too short whats the best way to freeze either end within AvidFX/Red? (I thought about nesting the .mov in a container or precomp to achieve that…)
A2 – If the clip is too short then I’d suggest that you click on the face track of the imported (short) clip and then enable the Loop Movie option and set the loop mode to Back and Forth.
Q – 3. Is there anyway of using a precomp or 3D container as a mask source within AvidFX/Red?
A3 – Yes – both of these options should work for you. Just drag the pre comp track or the container onto the mask track of any other track (face mask or shape mask) and that should do it.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Peter.

December 9, 2011 at 12:07 am in reply to: RED5: Getting 3D Title Container text to rotate on the same axisI think if you remove all of the animation from the individual tracks and only animate the container then everything will render as desired.

Hi Shai,
Are you rendering and then trying to playback the clip or are you trying to playback the filtered result before you render? It may be that the effect is not real-time and therefore requires a render before it will be able to play without stuttering.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Peter.

You can place the inserted composition tracks into a container, then copy and paste the container and shift the pasted versions in time along the timeline.
Or you could render out a movie file of the comp that you want to loop and then import this as a media item into the timeline. You can then click on the “face” sub-track of the imported movie and set the clip to loop by clicking on the “Loop Movie” checkbox in the control panel.
Cheers,
Peter.

December 7, 2011 at 3:43 pm in reply to: RED5: Getting 3D Title Container text to rotate on the same axisHi Paul,
Are you using the Spin parameter from the Position tab of the Title Container to rotate the text? If so then all of the text should be rotating along the same plane.
Please feel free to send me the RED settings file if you are still having trouble with this and I’ll take a look at it. My email is peterm@borisfx.com.
Cheers,
Peter.

Hi James,
Here’s the workflow:
To save a project / composition:
• generate the project that you want to save
• select file>save project as
• provide a destination and a name
• click the save buttonTo insert a project / composition into another project / composition:
• start by creating or opening a project to which you want to add another composition
• go to the keyframe palette window
• enable the “keep keyframe time” option to preserve the original time of the composition
• disable the “keep keyframe time” option to stretch the inserted comp length to match the current comp
• select composition>insert composition
• select the comp that you wish to insert and click the open buttonI hope this helps.

Hi,
You can use the Composition>Insert Composition command to do that.
I hope that helps.
