January 28, 2008 at 4:13 pm in reply to: Advanced Keyframing displeasure

    Hi Mark,

Well the Advanced Keyframing is not something that we developed, but rather a function of the Avid AVX 2.0 API and therefore not something that we can control. The only way around the Advanced Keyframe option is to use the AVX 1.5 version of the product.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

  • Hello,

Sounds to me like you have a preference file for RED that needs to be deleted. I suggest that you go to this directory:

    HD/Users/Login Name/Library/Preferences/

    And delete this file:

    Boris RED (all versions) Preferences

Then relaunch RED and see if it is behaving as expected. Please let me know whether or not this works for you.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

January 28, 2008 at 3:51 pm in reply to: Boris RED – Interaction with Host effects and BCC

    Hi,

So were you trying to use blend modes for a clip to which you applied the Boris RED effect from the AE timeline? If this is the case then yes, you will need to pre-comp the clip in AE to get the apply modes.

Apart from the additional 10 new filter effects that are included in BCC 5 but not included in RED 4, the advantage to adding BCC 5 is that there is no user interface in BCC, so the effects use the UI of the host to into which they were installed, which in this case is AE, which for a lot of people makes them easier to use.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Amanda,

So the path is showing up in the final render? Odd. Can you please let em know what your system configuration is? I’ll need to know the host name and version, plug-in name and version, and operating system name and version.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Okay – we understand the problem and have a fix for you (and anyone else for that matter.) Follow this link to download the fix, then follow the instructions listed below to install it.

    https://www.borisfx.com/download_files/CalligraphyForFCP.dmg

Here’s the long and the short of it. The four bundle files that make up the Boris titling application called Calligraphy rely on the operating system to flag them as bundles instead of folders. In some cases (like if you update FCP or your OS) these bundles get mislabeled as folders, therefore FCP can not “see” them and you loose your titles. The fix for this is simple. Herewith is a link to where you can download a set of new bundle files that identify themselves as bundles. Once you’ve downloaded them, locate the FCP plugins folders here: Hard Drive>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro System Support>Plugins. In there you should find the four FOLDERS named: “Text Scrambler.bundle”, “Title 3D.bundle”, “Title Crawl.bundle” and “Vector Shape.bundle”. Delete those FOLDERS and replace them with the FILES you just downloaded. That’s it.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter.

    Hi Sergio,

Glad to hear that you have been enjoying using the software and that you are thinking of new way in which you can use the toolset to generate more interesting effects.

So … with regard to the effect that you are trying to create where you animate only selected layers or shapes in a comp. You need to move the anchor point for the layer or shape that you wish to animate independently to the desired point of rotation, then set the motion over time using keyframes, and viola, you will have the animation that you are looking for. Send me your emil address and I’ll send you a sample project, where I’ll animate the position of an object like an arm or pendulum swinging. You can then apply this same technique to any object in any comp.

    Here’s my email address – peterm@borisfx.com

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi,

You need to enable the Apply to Title Matte function in the BCC filter in order for this to work.

    I hope this helps.
