I confess I haven’t used these filters much over the years that they’ve been on the avid. I’m trying to add a transparency mode (like linear burn) to a graphic that already has an alpha (created in the title tool). I first looked at the Composite filter which has modes like this in it, but I can’t seem to get it to work with the alpha properly. For that matter, I can’t get any BCC filter to apply to the title properly. A pdf from Boris says it’s a one step process –
“Any effect in the BCC AVX package can safely be added to a native Avid title and the alpha information is preserved along with the title making it a one step task to apply a directional blur or light zoom effect to the text.”
However, when I drag directional blur to the title, all I see is the b&w alpha on the screen. If I hold alt and drag, it applies the effect to the video as if there’s no alpha.

I’m using BCC version 3 with Avid MC Adrenaline 2.8. Is the BCC too old?

    Thanks,

    Bryan

    Hi,

You need to enable the Apply to Title Matte function in the BCC filter in order for this to work.

    I hope this helps.

    Peter.

    Thanks Peter.

Simple enough – so it’s a two step process :0)

    That does the trick.
