Yes, you can use the BCC AE (after effects) filters in RED within Vegas. Kind of like having a plug-in within the plug-in.

You need to enter the RED user interface and select the Library browser window to see the rest of the presets. There should be somewhere in the region of 1500 preset effects.

The best bet is to install the trial version and see how this works for you. You cannot directly use BCC in the Vegas timeline but you can use RED, which contains most of the filters in the BCC 4 package. If you need filters from BCC 5 in Vegas, then you’ll have to install BCC 5 into RED and access the BCC 5 filters from within RED on the Vegas timeline.

Hi Simon,

If the media to which the Cube was applied is not square then the resulting Cube will not be square either. To prove this, try making a solid layer that is 250 x 250 pixels and apply the cube to that – it should be a perfect square. To retain the square shape while using non-square media you need to pre-comp the media so that it is square.

Oh, well in that case you should proceed directly to the Keyframe Palette (Window>Show Keyframe Palette) and make the change there. 🙂

Actually we added the Keyframe Palette to the product for RED 4 and must have missed that in the documentation. Sorry about that. The advantage to having in a palette is that it is a live, non-modal window and you can change it on the fly without having to go to the preferences panel.

So does this problem occur when you create a basic transition without using a template from the library? For instance, if you simply apply a 360 degree spin to a track inside of the Boris FX timeline does the transition appear to work or is there still a frame mismatch when you go back to the host timeline?

If it’s only a problem with some transitions and not with all transitions then this leads me to believe that there must be an errant keyframe at the end of the transition that is causing the jump. Does the transition appear to be correct in the Boris FX timeline? Can you describe what the jump looks like? Are you using a Library Browser effect or building your own from scratch?

Hi,

You need to precomp or nest the text so that it can provide the shatter filter a full frame size bounding box and thereby shatter the pieces over the full frame of the composite.
