You need to use the function in Graffiti titled Keep Keyframe Time to do that. Try saving the effect to the Library Browser and then applying it to a longer clip with this function enabled and then disabled to see how it works.

Hi Stefan,

The duration of the effect is dictated by the length of the clip to which it is applied. If you apply the saved 4 second Graffiti effect to a 2 second clip then the effect length can only be 2 seconds. Does this explain what you are seeing?

Hi Sergio,

The paint system only accepts layered .psd files that were generated by Adobe Photoshop. That’s the problem that you are encountering. Just because you saved from Paint Shop Pro as a .psd file does not mean that these files will release their layers to RED – it must come from Photoshop.

Hi Steve,

Well you’re on Leopard and you’re using a version of BCC that predates that OS by at least 18 months. You’re also using the AE version of the BCC filters in FCP 5, which is not officially supported. Might be time for an upgrade. I’d suggest downloading the latest version and seeing if that solves the issue.

Okay – send me the exact version numbers of FCP and BCC that you are using and I’ll see if this will provide more information so aid in solving the problem. Is this happening with other filters that include a motion tracker, such as the Rays filters? Also, please post your machine specs (go to about this Mac and include the Hardware Overview and the Graphics Displays info.)

You need to Alt + Drag the Matte Choker filter onto the clip to stck filters. You also have to go to the Title Matte group in the Matte Choker filter and enable that function. And you have to set Multi-Filter start and end for the filters that you have stacked.

Hi Steve,

Just for the sake f clarity, you should have followed these steps:

• apply witness protect filter to clip
• double click the clip to display it in the source and record monitor
• go to the filters tab
• enable track on the fly
• reposition the motion tracker target over the pixels that you want to follow
• select mark>play>play all frames

at this point the motion tracker should be tracking the object

Please follow these instructions and let me know how you make out.

If this is the problem that I think it is, then you need to force FCP to play every frame. To do this, make the timeline the current selection by clicking on it and then go to Mark>Play>Play Every Frame.

Hi Max,

I forgot one step – you need to place the filter into a container tin order for it to see layers beneath if in the timeline. To do that follow from the end of the last set of instructions and:

• select the filter
• click on the container button in the timeline button array to automatically nest the filter inside the container
