Hi Michael,

Sorry for the troubles. There are a few known issues that we’re aware of that can cause this error,

– Transcoding to a drive with insufficient space

– Sequences with Merged Clips

– Sequences with audio only from an A/V clip (This appears to be limited to ProRes presets).

All three of these cases would result in unknown error in 8.1. We’re working on fixes for these issues now.

System specs?

Any 3rd party hardware or plugins?

Does it randomly crackle or does it only occur over specific sections of the sequence?

You can create your own presets in Export Settings/AME and then import them in C&T.

For the DNX hang, do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you say it hangs?

Hi David,

Yes you can do this now. Here’s the steps:

1. Apply your transition to the clip in the Timeline
2. Customize it to your liking
3. Select the transition in the Timeline
4. Open the Effects Control Panel, right-click on the transition effect, choose Save Preset from the context menu

Hi Bob,

This is a known issue with the 10.5.2 plugin. I suggest reverting back to 10.5.1 or you can try the following steps that in some cases elevate the problems.

1. Set the Primary format in the AJA Control panel to match your sequence settings.

2. Avoid mixed frame rates in your sequence

3. Go to AJA control panel -> Control:
a. Make sure the default output is not set to Inputpassthrough because it forces the genlock to video in.
b. Set Genlock to Ref In or Freerun.

4. Go to Premiere Project Settings -> General -> Set Video Render Playback to GPU if it is an option.

5. Go to Premiere preferences -> Audio Hardware:
a. Set Adobe Desktop Audio to built-in
b. Set buffersize to 512

6. Go to Premiere preferences -> Playback:
a. Set Audio device to AJA
b. Check the AJA Io 4K as the video device.
c. Click on Setup and set video format to Match Sequence.
d. Try Buffer mode set to Minimum

7. Set Premiere Preview to FULL resolution

8. Go to system preferences -> Sound -> Output and set to Mac Audio.

9. Delete all the AJA preferences:
a. Go to Mac HD: /users/username/library/preferences/
b. Delete all the com.aja.* files
c. Reboot

AJA and Adobe are aware the issue and working to resolve it. Sorry for the troubles.

To confirm, you’re saying the image in the output monitor does not appear to be playing back at full quality? Does the quality in the Program monitor look correct?

To confirm, are you using Premiere Pro 2014.1 (8.1)? AJA driver/plugin 10.5.2? What OS do you have?

Sometimes increasing the PreRoll to 5 seconds helps.

I’ll try to reproduce in house however I tested this not too long ago and it worked without issue.
