  • Hi Jeff,

Great to get feedback for what’s working for folks out in the field. Just wanted to chime in to let you know that any AJA, Blackmagic or Matrox hardware with SDI and a RS422 connection will offer this support.

    Hi Alex,

“Do I place my Media Cache Database and Media Cache files on the SAN?”

For 8.1 I wouldn’t do this. There are a few cases where we would constantly regenerate PEK and CFA files on the the server.

“Do I point all the 5 machines to the same folder for Media Cache Files?”

This should work fine in 8.1.

“Do I point all 5 machines to the same folder for the Media Cache Database?”

For 8.1 I suggest you use local media cache database locations. We hope to have additional work done in our upcoming release that is optimized to use shared media cache database locations.

I’ll try to remember to update this forum as changes come. Feel free to nag me too 🙂

    Hi Jeff,

I haven’t been able to reproduce in the latest version of Premiere (2014.1). Have you tried clearing your preferences? You can do this by holding down the Option key while Premiere is launching.

Can you please tell me how you created your setup described in your post? How did you create the 24fps sequence etc…

    Thanks,

    Hi Charlie,

I have hit this once but I could not come up with a reproducible case. Do you have CUDA installed as well? Does this happen every time Premiere is open or are there any particular steps to make it happen?

    Hi Lee,

Seems like you figured it out. Just wanted to let you and anyone else know this was part of the new UI we introduced in 2014.1. The flyout menu has been moved to panel tab and all settings can be found under the wrench icon.

    Enjoy,

    Hi Greg,

You can still do this. On the left side on the Timecode window there’s a thin line. To the left of the line is where you can click and drag to dock the window.

Let me know if you need a screen grab.

    Hi Alex,

Have you tested pointing the media cache files and media cache database to a SAN in the 2014.1 (8.1) release? We did a bit of work in this area to help the shared project workflow.

    Let us know your results.

Thanks for the update John. I know what your describing and we saw this right when OS Mavericks was introduced but it has since been fixed. I haven’t seen this myself nor have I heard it been reported in recents times.

I’ll try to get a repro in house. Any reason your still on 10.9.4? I suggest updating to 10.9.5 as it addressed a few issues that were specific to 10.9.4.

  • Hi Pete,

This card has not been tested yet by the Premiere team but as you may know As long as you have a GPU with 786mb of VRAM, you will be able to use GPU acceleration without any hacks.

Though I haven’t tested the card the specs look nice!

    Hello John,

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? You can find this by going to Premiere Pro menu> About Premiere Pro.

    Also what Mac OS version?

    Thanks,
