    Hi all,

I’m having some trouble with one of our suites and Premiere Pro. The playhead in both the source and program monitor exhibits some annoying behaviour when you click and drag the playhead to scrub. Basically once you release the playhead on the frame you want the playhead will then start to repeat all of the scrubbing you’ve just done, stopping you from placing in or out points where you want until it’s come to a stop.

Has anyone else come up against this behaviour. It’s happening on a 2013 mac pro with dual d700 GPUs. Our grading suite on an older aluminium tower mac pro doesn’t do this at all. I can’t find a setting that seems to change it.

    Any help?

    Hello John,

What version of Premiere Pro are you using? You can find this by going to Premiere Pro menu> About Premiere Pro.

    Also what Mac OS version?

    Thanks,

    Hi Peter,

    It’s the latest 2014 release (8.1) and OS 10.9.4.

I’ve only been using Premiere since the grey and blue interface so I’m not sure about previous versions.

    Cheers

Are you hooked up to a broadcast monitor, with a card like AJA or blackmagic. That could effect it.

Yes, we’re hooked up to a monitor via a BMD Ultrastudio 4K Thunderbolt.

Try setting playback to shut off all external playback and see if you get the same behavior.

    That doesn’t make a difference.

It’s not the lag problem that some people have reported between the timeline playhead and program playhead. This is the source or program monitor playhead re[eating the exact movements you make if you click and drag in the monitor timeline once you release the mouse.

    Cheers

    Odd, maybe Peter knows.

Thanks for the update John. I know what your describing and we saw this right when OS Mavericks was introduced but it has since been fixed. I haven’t seen this myself nor have I heard it been reported in recents times.

I’ll try to get a repro in house. Any reason your still on 10.9.4? I suggest updating to 10.9.5 as it addressed a few issues that were specific to 10.9.4.

    Thanks Peter.

This suite is still on 10.9.4 as it’s the VFX/online editor’s suite and he hasn’t updated it yet. I’ll look in to going to 9.5.

    Thanks
    John

Now wouldn’t it be nice if somebody from Apple got involved in the forums over on FCPX occasionally.
