This has happened a few times now and it’s really becomming quite annoying. I thought perhaps it was because the project was too heavy, as it has a lot of keyframes animations and many audio tracks and different codecs. But now I’ve converted most of the footage to prores, removed excess audio tracks and I am currently not having any animated keyframes. But still there is this really annoying crackling sound, a bit like a dusty old Vinyl record, except it’s not charming at all.

Does anyone have a clue what this crackling sound might be and how to get rid of it?

    I’d sure appreciate it.

    Hi,

Can please answer the following questions:

What version of Premiere are you using?

    System specs?

Any 3rd party hardware or plugins?

Does it randomly crackle or does it only occur over specific sections of the sequence?

    Thanks,

    Hi Peter

    Thank you for your reply.

I’m using Premiere Pro CC on a 2014 macbook pro retina (13) 8 gb Ram. Premiere was unhappy about perian, so i’ve uninstalled that. I’ve got fx factory installed, but i’m not really using it.

I haven’t found any pattern to the crackling. I’t gets worse when I run the heavier sections of a timeline with things like keyframe animations of psd’s (text and icons) and warp stabalization. It did help to reduce the playback quality, so I guess it’s got something to do with computer processing or harddrive speed. But once it begins, it tends to continue even if I go back to working on less complicated timelines or disable effects and animation tracks.
