Saving a transition as a preset
Posted by David Seay on October 17, 2014 at 5:25 pmI have a transition I’d like to save as a pre-set. I understand that for some time that was not possible in PP, with the new PP/CC 2014 update, is it possible now? If so, how?
Thanks!

October 17, 2014 at 11:39 pmHi David,
Yes you can do this now. Here’s the steps:
1. Apply your transition to the clip in the Timeline
2. Customize it to your liking
3. Select the transition in the Timeline
4. Open the Effects Control Panel, right-click on the transition effect, choose Save Preset from the context menuBest,

October 18, 2014 at 2:00 pmThank you for you help. The steps you gave were clearly outlined and I followed them exactly, unfortunately I do not see the option anywhere for “save as preset”
I must be doing something wrong.

October 20, 2014 at 2:36 pmThanks so much for your help….
I am running premiere CC.2014.1 …. on a mac, does that matter?
for reference, here is a screen grab of my timeline, effects control window (with wipe selected) and also my premiere version info: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hjielvmrf020u1t/PREMIERE.PRO.pdf?dl=0
I”m new to PP…. Old hat with FCP and Avid so I’m sure it’s something I’m doing/not doing correctly.
Thanks

November 23, 2014 at 6:36 amI followed the same steps above with a PC, and got nothing either. The “Save as Preset…” is grayed out.

July 28, 2023 at 1:23 pmHopefully, you figured this out by now. If not, it’s because you have to select all the headings that use the specific effect you’re using in the Effect tab. Then when inside that tab, right click and you should see Save Preset. A little late…well a lot late, but hope that helps

July 29, 2023 at 8:55 pmYou can save effects as a preset. You cannot save a transition as a preset.

October 16, 2023 at 4:04 amSOME transitions can be saved, example “some dissolve”, VRs, slide whip.
None of the Iris, most slide (push, slide, etc), none page peel, none wipes or zoom can’t be saved.
What’s frustrating here is that for my current slideshow project, I really want to use Slide with R->L vs default L->R but there isn’t automatic way to do it. With 100+ slides, it’s a lot of time to flip each one.
