very handy if your new to multicam edits (saved me about a weeks worth of editing)

thats pretty normal to see on an HDTV

when youve transcoded your video in encore it downscales it to standard def
which looks fine on a normal SD telly,
also considering youve selected medium quality, its not going to upscale and still present well on an HDTV

considering SD is 720×576 and a 1080i HD TV generally upscales to 1920×1080, your gonna end up with a fairly pixelated image.

it is possible on most TVs to choose your resolution when watching a SD DVD, but when you do that it generally doesnt fill the whole frame, leaving a smaller picture in the centre of the screen surrounded by a lot of black

if you watch the footage outside of premiere is it still out of sync?

has it been rendered in the premiere timeline ?

could be one of a few issues depending on your situation

January 12, 2009 at 7:01 am in reply to: Premier Pro CS3 crashes on start up

    thats what i was thinkin,

i know when we used to open some of the larger projects we were working on in CS3 it used to spit the dummy.

30 minute HDV timelines can be problematic even on the fastest systems… apparently..

im not sure if adobe has done anything to rectify the situation either

we ended up working around the crashes and saving OFTEN, during edits

on the plus side ive recently completed a 1 hour 45 minute music DVD on premiere CS4 and had no problems at all 🙂

  • right click on your program window select “Playback Settings”

and uncheck the box ‘disable video output when in the background’

i believe that may solve your problems

im not sure what you mean by movie-like without seeing an example

the principal of straight cuts is the same, the only thing that changes is the frame rate, film being film and digital video .. well you get the idea

if thats the case its entirely possible that the render files were corrupted, it doesnt happen often but its possible

if it happens again try discarding your render files and re-rendering your timeline

if you want a nice cheap monitoring system, pick up a 30cm CRT TV with an s-video input on it, most modern video cards have at least an s-video out
that will allow you to get an idea of what the final product will look like on a conventional screen, its also a nice easy way to check fields!
