cs4 has the ability to analyse audio clips and convert the information into embedded meta-data text

which one would assume you could then do anything you wanted with.

the only problem with the system is that its inaccurate, like.. 80% on a good day with a professionally recorded voiceover track inaccurate.

i dont like your chances of pulling a decent result from a track with vocals and music, but you could try 🙂

i understand the ‘best’ way is to bring in raw video and allow encore to transcode the videos, as it fits them using the best compression for your individual project.

the way i desribed above is a standard h264 export which could potentially offer poorer results, although ive yet to see a serious difference

  • try reversing the fields on the one clip, see if that helps

your gonna want to export as NTSC 720×576 29.97

if you want to maintain quality it really comes down to how much you want to compress the video to fit it on the disc, if your not running out of space on the disc you can go light on the compression and keep a higher quality of image, obviously if your running out of space the picture quality will take a hit

make sure your work area bar is ok
    file>export media
    choose your export settings
h.264 for dvd will mean that encore wont need to transcode
    hit ok,

adobe media encoder will open up with the file and presets that you chose
if you need to make any changes to your export you can go into more detailed settings here
once your done with your settings, hit “Start Queue”

the file will be exported with the settings you chose
then simply go into encore and import the file

    thats it 🙂

  • yeah im having the same problem, didnt realise the track lock was doing it
im running 4.01 on OSX and still having the issue. have to test more when i get home

worst case scenario, export the file with no fields and burn it as such

lazy method sure, but it works a treat 🙂

Plasma and LCD panels are not interlaced screens, unfortunately for everyone there are still a ton of conventional CRT screens floating around, hence using interlaced footage.

Playing de-interlaced footage on a normal CRT monitor will not yield overly positive results.

My Guess as to why people complain about the ‘feature’ is because its anti-intuitive if you’ve migrated from another NLE to FCP.

And moving the whole timeline for the sake of one speed adjustment is a pain in the arse, when other programs like Premiere allow you to only move the particular clip and leave the rest of your timeline alone.

Its a much more serious problem when your working to a particular running time and the software just decides its gonna shift everything by 2 or 3 frames, and you didnt realise? Oh no.
