I tried this link & see that the camera model on offer is HDR-XR550V. The model stenciled on side of camera doesn’t have the ‘V’. I don’t know if this is significant or not.

Because the PC isn’t seeing the camera at all I decided that it could not make matters worse. There are 3 files on offer. 2 are for PMB which I thought has now superseded & the 3rd for PlayMemories. None of these file look like drivers.

I downloaded the PlayMemories & ran it. It was a file called PMHome. When it opened it displayed PMB rather than PlayMemories, which was confusing. Even more confusing is I asked PMB if it had updates it said there were none when the other day it basically said that PlayMemories had replaced PMB.

    Thanks in advance

April 29, 2013 at 1:09 am in reply to: Split screen render?

It would seem that everyone thinks I’m crazy for asking this question in the first place. Perhaps this stems from the fact that often when I have tried using the split preview screen I can see the lines from interlacing, yet it’s rarely seen in the finally rendered out file.

I was only contemplating trying doing this with older analog footage. Maybe I just need to tell the program that the output will be progressive? It would be nice to see in the preview window what I expect to see when the project is finally rendered out. Perhaps my setting are wrong?

    Thanks in advance

I would never contemplating doing this on an on going basis just as an experiment to trying out. I thought that this might be a good way to try out some filters to be able to display it on a large screen TV & I could then see just how effective these filters are. I thought that for instance the sharpen filter might best be judged large screen.

    Thanks in advance

April 23, 2013 at 12:48 am in reply to: AVC 50 fps How do I make this compliant?

I have checked with the cameras owner & his manual says that the camera can record either AVCHD or MP4. When set to AVCHD it appears to have several more settings labelled GPH,PSH,GFS,FSH. What those settings I don’t know yet but I’m guessing that its something to do with whether or not the cameras GPS was turned on or not?

    Thanks in advance

I ended up just rendering out the project as using the Blu-Ray template. I’m unsure if this involved re rendering but I suspect that it didn’t. I still have to find out if the camera was correct incorrectly or not.

    Thanks in advance

April 18, 2013 at 6:46 am in reply to: DVDA with special playback button

I found an answer that I had asked 5 years ago but had forgotten about.

Here is reply to old question.

‘Very easy to do in DVDA, our Advanced DVD Architect DVD teaches this very technique.
    Insert Buttons on Video Marker
    Insert Empty Button
    Link Empty button to video.
Linked video has end action back to the chapter point from where you inserted empty button/Button on Video Marker.

    Make sense?

    Douglas Spotted Eagle’

I’m not 100% certain what he is saying about inserting button onto video marker but I intend to try when I get time. Sorry for asking again.

    Thanks in advance

How do I alter the audio duration?

    Thanks in advance

  • I’m certain that you can have both SD & HD on a Blu-Ray disk without re rndering providing that files are compliant for each type & are on separate menu’s. Perhaps someone else would like to confirm this?

    Thanks in advance

  • But does doing this result in re rendering?

    Thanks in advance

  • Just a follow up to the original question. Would either Vegas or DVDA allow the same or easier importing had my original been an ISO file?

    Thanks in advance
