I haven’t use my Sony HDR-CX550 camcorder for several months during that time a few changes were make to my computer. What I’m finding that once I have the power plug & usb cord plugged into the camcorder nothing at all seems to happen. I don’t get the message that a new devise has been detected or hear the click.

I went back to the often despised PMB software only to find its been replaced by My Memories pro. I installed this program & had the same no result. This new program from the little I saw of it is a step down from PMB.

Is this problem likely to be a driver problem, camcorder problem or should I be looking elsewhere? I’m using Vegas pro 10 64 bit.

    Thanks in advance

You tried this update, under Windows 7 64bit?

I tried this link & see that the camera model on offer is HDR-XR550V. The model stenciled on side of camera doesn’t have the ‘V’. I don’t know if this is significant or not.

Because the PC isn’t seeing the camera at all I decided that it could not make matters worse. There are 3 files on offer. 2 are for PMB which I thought has now superseded & the 3rd for PlayMemories. None of these file look like drivers.

I downloaded the PlayMemories & ran it. It was a file called PMHome. When it opened it displayed PMB rather than PlayMemories, which was confusing. Even more confusing is I asked PMB if it had updates it said there were none when the other day it basically said that PlayMemories had replaced PMB.

    Thanks in advance

I’m suspecting something installed on your computer could
be causing this disconnection with your Camcorder.

I have another old PC here which I connected up & did all of the updates for all of the software. I opened Playmemories & it said that my camera wasn’t registered & that I needed to connect it via USB which I did.

Again nothing happened. I suspect that the problem is in the camera which plays perfectly except for this. Maybe I haven’t gotten the software switch set correctly or something like that.

Should I be able to capture the latest files by just using Vegas Pro 10 without Playmemories software?
I had hopped to show someone the video I shot last week before I go on an short overseas holiday next week.

    Thanks in advance
