    February 9, 2010 at 12:57 pm in reply to: How To Search For Off-line Media On Timeline?

    In case you are asking about locating an off-line item on a very crowded timeline;

    Go to Project Media window and look for a greyed out item. Sorting items in size will help you find it easily because offline items are 0 in size. Right-click on offline item and choose ‘Select Timeline Events’
    The offline item on timeline will be selected.
    If you still can’t locate the selected items due to a very crowded long timeline, create a new audio track below the existing one(s), locate the item using the method above, then use key 2 on numeric pad to move the selected item down onto the new track.

    Can you open .veg files by drag-drop? I can’t.

    A reply would be very appreciated so I can be sure that if it’s an issue about my Vegas installation or not.

    Thanks in advance!

    Choose `Stop/Play` parameter as automation envelope and set it’s value less than 10 to stop, greater than 10 to play.

    For help on automation, I suggest you press F1 and goto `Audio Track Automation` section in Vegas help and read `Apply assignable effects send automation` sub-section. That explains how to assign effect envelopes to events in details.

    You can do it with this free plug-in named TapeStop.

    >>>Quicktime on a PC has less features/codecs than Quicktime on a Mac (probably an intentional move by Apple).

    I didn’t know that. Apple charges $29.99 for both versions of QT Pro 7 for PC and Mac.

    I’ve browsed the Apple.com to compare the features unfortunately couldn’t find any differences because codecs/features buttons on MAC and PC pages both link to the same single list of features page.
    https://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/specs.html

    Do you have any link for the list of features/codecs that are not available in PC.

    August 11, 2009 at 7:21 am in reply to: (New) Velocity Envelope Questions

    No that won’t fix that. I assumed you knew that the frames shift when you modify velocity without any change in event size.

    I don’t know how to desribe it but I’ll try;

    This is the clip; (1 means normal speed)
    [1111111 A 1111111111111111 B 1111111111111111111111]

    This is the modified clip; (2 means %200 speed)
    [1111111 A 12222221 B 1111111111111111*1111111 A 111]

    * is the loop point.
    Notice the clip event size on timeline don’t change as you speed up the event.

    When you speed up the clip after point A, the point B is no longer at the same place in timeline. It’s shifted to the left.
    Every change in the velocity shifts the position of the tailing frames in the timeline so you should start editing from the begining of the clip and move towards the end one by one. You need to adjust it precisely so point B doesn’t shift too much and move into the %200 area.

    The clip events are set to looping by default.
    To disable looping, right-click on the event and toggle Switches / Loop

    This way, the `Guy A` and the `running parts` will not appear again at the end of the clip.

    There is a GPU-decoding plugin for NVIDIA video card users.

    https://www.divideframe.com/

    I haven’t tested it (I have an ATI card) but it claims that it can improve decoding of h.264 video up to x10.

    July 27, 2009 at 2:14 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas 9 Pro importing VCD file Problem

    I had the same problem here (without crashing) with an MPEG file with no audio stream.
    I wasn’t able to open(or import) it into Vegas.
    https://www.yourfilelink.com/get.php?fid=502624
    It’s a MPEG-1 352×240 29.97f 1150k with no audio stream.

    I just added an audio track to it using a MPEG editor and it can be loaded into vegas now.

    July 27, 2009 at 1:29 pm in reply to: My project keep crashing when i open it

    If you still can’t open the project using the way Steve Rhoden suggested, try moving all media files used in the project to a sub folder so Vegas can’t find them.
    When it asks for the missing media files during loading, show the new location one by one. If the hang is due to a media file, then it will hang once you import it. Once you detect the file causing the problem, skip loading that media and you’ll be able to open the project.
    If it doesn’t load even you skip all media, then it might be a damaged/corrupted .VEG file. Try opening the .veg.bak file.
