How To Search For Off-line Media On Timeline?

If you right click on the media in the time line it will tell you where the file is supposed to be and what the name is. Do a system search for the file name in Windows.

I wrote a little script which will show you ALL offline media

Just stick it in your script folder (typically c:\program files\sony\sony vegas 9.0\Script menu)

Run it on your project – that will tell you on which track and which event is the culprit….

In case you are asking about locating an off-line item on a very crowded timeline;

Go to Project Media window and look for a greyed out item. Sorting items in size will help you find it easily because offline items are 0 in size. Right-click on offline item and choose ‘Select Timeline Events’
The offline item on timeline will be selected.
If you still can’t locate the selected items due to a very crowded long timeline, create a new audio track below the existing one(s), locate the item using the method above, then use key 2 on numeric pad to move the selected item down onto the new track.
