    Hi Guys,

I have recently installed Sony Vegas 9 Pro 32 bit edition in my Windows 7 system. Previously i was using Vegas 8 for my video editing purpose.

I had no problem in Vegas 8 in importing VCD Files (*.Dat) in my projects as footage. But in Vegas 9 I could n’t import *.dat files. Is there any overcome to this issue?

It’s been a very long time but, as I recall, .dat files are actually renamed MPEG-1 files.
Try changing the extension from .dat to .mpg and see if that works.

    Hi mike,

thankz for the fast response. But I have already tried renaming the file to .mpg but it doesn’t work. In vegas 8 there were no option to import the file via extension. But we can drag and drop vcd dat files to time line. But in Vegas 9 I couldn’t. 🙁

I had the same problem here (without crashing) with an MPEG file with no audio stream.
I wasn’t able to open(or import) it into Vegas.

    It’s a MPEG-1 352×240 29.97f 1150k with no audio stream.

I just added an audio track to it using a MPEG editor and it can be loaded into vegas now.
