Two questions:
1 – My film is 24fps. It won’t get messed up if I compress it to 30fps?2 – WMy original footage is 1920×1080. Is there any advantage to follow what Jan did and compress it to a large pixel size rather than the 640×480?
The Withoutabox site is so poorly run so I wonder if maybe they just haven’t updated their specs and i can actually upload something of a higher quality than what they say to do.

So, I had a film that was 1920×1080 and I uploaded it to Withoutabox and it looks ok. Should I still follow their directions and letterbox it at 480 px by 360?

can i do this without opening sequences? i have a ton of sequences and am wondering if i can search without needing to open them.

OK. but, that said, if i partition a drive into three, do all three drives need breathing space or can i fill up two of them and leave the third partition with tons of space?

Do i need breathing space on it? Someone on another forum told me unless I’m booting from the drive, I don’t need to set aside free space. True?

I gotta admit, I find FCP to be a bit disappointing with reconnecting media. Maybe it’s cause the project is so large (it’s a 52 minute film) but when I’ve had to reconnect, I’ve sometimes had to run it a few times much to my disappointment….

I should say I called B&H yesterday and discussed this question with them. The man there said the XA10 chip is a full 1920×1080 chip while the HMC150 one is not but just scales up the resolution it does have (I realize my language is remarkably imprecise). Which leads to two questions:
1 – Is the chip actually better on the XA10?
2 – If it is, isnt that image always going to have a higher upside? The HMC-150 has many advantages, obvously, over the XA10, but in terms of image quality alone, maybe it’s best isnt as good as the best of the XA10. -

so using the Red Giant program means my idea of letting the sky get blown out but keeping the faces in a good range is a good idea? or at least a viable one?
