I am using a clip that I already imported into FCP and if I look at the source TC in QT Change, it shows me 00:00:00:00 which makes me think maybe no meta data exists with the timecode after the import? Am I wrong here?

I cannot figure out how to use QTChange to find the original timecode. If I choose source timecode with a clip in there, the time code is 00:00:00:00 which I dont want, and creation time doesnt give the right time code either.

Do you know what I need to do? There is no guide to the software online.

It seems the best way to do this and maintain full rez is export, the footage will come out as 60i and then use Compressor and Reverse Telecine. Right?

Dude, lesson learned on logging. I did the logging a few years ago. My thinking was it would make it easier for the editor. I didn’t think of the way it would hamstring me.

She’d be willing to learn it which is great. My hesitation is if I’m shooting myself in the foot asking her to spend her time doing that. But since it’s not going to be an effects heavy edit, I’m inclined to do that.

So, it’s a FCP7 project. I havent touched it in years and it’s entirely possible if I do, it’ll be in FCP X.

If I move it and put all the files on the new drive, I’ll need to relink everything which I could do but I worry about how that would work in FCP X, like maybe it’s a host of changes that would make opening the project in a new system difficult.

Thoughts on that? I guess I could just bring in everything and if I need to relink, I can do that. I just worry ill have problems since everything will need to be relinked.

Thanks for teaching me. I’m in SF. I called two guitar stores who only had jacks. Not plugs. I’d love to shop local if I knew what kind of store to go to.
