Would there be any difference in the quality of the exported film if I turn the MPEG4 to Pro Res? I imagine it’s the same both ways but maybe I’m wrong.

So in the end, I managed to import by going to “Reimport from Cameras.” It would only import that way. What it then imported is a MPEG-4 mov file. Should I edit with that or should I bring that to Compressor or turn it into Pro Res? It works fine in FCP X so there’s no need to change it for that reason. Thoughts?

    Thanks for all the help!

What is the advantage of doing that with EditReady? Is that software good for other things? Can it do thing Handbrake can’t?

Last question: it seems like what I want to do is All Final Cut Studio/Express. That seem right? Those are all the apps Mojave tells me I can’t use. But I’m also tempted to just check them individually and choose “Maximum compatibility.” Thoughts?

I’m guessing this is safe or you wouldnt have recommended it? I can also be targeted between 7 and X? Just checking.

    Thanks for the quick response….

I can do that….I’d just rather avoid paying 150 dollars if I can. Is there not a way way to do this from Logic?

  • Oh, really? That makes me want to upgrade. I run 10.4 I didn’t realize it’d run better if I updated my OS.

  • Never switched cause I still dip into FCP 7 time to time for old projects. I know one day I will….that said, I’ll try Handbrake. Any specific?

No, I meant it’s only audio. It can look however it wants!

I usually have an AT4053b on a mount about 6 inches to a foot away from the face. And I have an AT 8537 as backup that I attach to the talent (although, that said, the audio dropoff is significant between the two. I record to a Zoom H6, and after boosting the lav enough to get good levels, I usually get a lot of noise.)

I’m now thinking I’ll move my mic a touch back so I can have a few inches between the filter and the mic……

Other thoughts? You guys rock (and I even own your book, Ty!)

What do you mean by application? I use it for radio journalism so I can set the shot up however and not worry how it looks if that’s what you mean.
