Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking of buying. I’ll look into the Stedman. That’s the piece of gear where I’m wondering if 60 bucks is worth more than 20. Your point is noted.

I’ve always tried to place it directly between the mouth and mic. Am I doing that wrong?

I’m having the same problem and it’s driving me nuts. Any advice would be great (As for Os, ‘m still in Sierra)

I’m using Logic. The one thing I can’t do…..that I do in FCP X….is have a browser where I can insert clips. I find that so much easier in terms of taking a long interview, picking out the selects my producer wants, and putting them in place. So, I’ve actually been using FCP X, arranging things that way, giving every person they own subrole, and then exporting as an XLM I open in Logic. The roles become their own tracks. It’s the best way to lay things out before I go to town making the subtle adjustments that make audio pop. Thoughts on that?

    You rock Ty….

  • Changing the display is all I want to do. So, am I right in thinking that, unless I want to sync something to tape, the frame rate I select from the dropdown menu in Wave Agent makes no difference?

  • Ty,

Just following up. I’m doing my first sit down interview since we chatted. It’s just audio so how the scene looks is irrelevant. That being the case, I was going to use the AT 4053b, buy a mic stand so I don’t need a boom operator, and have it place above the talent for the sitdown interview. I can adjust the stand as needing during the interview if the person moves a bit.

Does that make sense? Based on what you said and other research, that’ll be better than doing it handheld with the EV-50.

Thanks so much. This forum has been so useful over the years.

  • So I’ve looked into this….and there is no way to do timecode with a Zoom6. Just isn’t possible. I even called the company to check.

  • This is good advice. I’m using FCP X so I can’t flatten in there. SO ANNOYING! And there were tons of clips from multicam and I’d have to go each one to get it done.

That said….my problem had the easiest of solutions. Apparently, there were more tracks in Davinci and I just needed to scroll down. Always nice when problems have easy answers, even if it comes from your own stupidity.

  • I feel like an idiot. But a newly educated one!

Let’s say I was doing a sit down interview where I can set up a mic stand. Would you still recommend the EV50 right next to the speaker or the 4053b a little bit father away?

  • That’s a great idea. That movement won’t cause any noise? Also, any one you might recommend?

  • This is such great stuff. I actually have an EV Re50. I just assumed (based on…uh….nothing) that the sound quality of the AT4053b would be better.

So, the gist of it is, for what I’m doing – interviews for audio work where I can get close to the person’s mouth – the EV RE50 will be professional level audio? Would that be as good as Ty’s suggestion of the 4049b-EL attaching to the AT mic?

Big high five’s to both of you. I’ve been wondering why I’m getting a lot of low frequency stuff here.
