What makes it bad for that kind of recording? Is it because it’s hyperdirectional?

I did an interview of someone else and had it like that but was still getting some clipping. I’m was aiming for the sound to usually hit between -12 and -10 db but I’m thinking I should make my baseline lower to avoid clipping? Is that a standard amount for headroom? (Obviously, headroom depends on the speaker. I had thought generally to aim for a consistent level between -12 and -6 but I’m thinking that might not leave enough headroom).

Sometimes set up on a stand, but often handheld (well, in a mic shock holder attached to a grip).

Is a 2.4 Ghz wireless system at greater risk of interference than other wireless systems? I will be using this in a 100 person theater on stage. I wont be terribly far from the receiver, but I worry about interference from others.

I knew it was simple. I bet this one is simple too: how can I see wave forms in the browser? It is playing fine but the clip is black.

What makes these drives better? Just a higher quality drive? You’re right. Not worth skimping on this.

Good advice. What’s the best way to make proxies and then work with them for a project I’m already deep into with original media?

So, I wanna make sure I have the work flow down….I’m about to go out of town. I’m doing some edits on a 3 hour film. I want to take about 40 minutes worth of edited material with me.

Should I put that all in its own project, then consolidate with Work4X, then work on it off a travel hard drive. It’ll be its own independent library, just those 40 minutes. And then when I come back…I can put the edited projects from the travel library back into the original library, in the library for the entire project. Do I have that workflow right?

Does Work4X program change the time code at all of clips? Can I consolidate a program with Work4X, work on it, and then later use that project back in my original library?

Body mic with lav so I can play guitar and walk around on stage…
