Best HD format for submission to Withoutabox
Are there any FCP7 users that have had success submitting an HD file to Withoutabox?
I am not that familiar with Compressor and the first setting I tried –H.264 for Apple TV– played back fine but when it was uploaded to Withoutabox had that squished to 4×3 look.
I am fairly new to FCP and Compressor and haven’t been able to figure out what I specifically need to do in FCP or in Compressor so that my HD file looks reasonable and is letterboxed, but not squished once uploaded.
This is what it says on the Withoutabox website:
We recommend the following settings to optimize video quality on the IMDb site for your Withoutabox upload:
* File size: Less than 2GB
* Frame: 480 px by 360 px at 30 frames per second
* Format: Flash Video (Codec: Sorenson or VP6 codec) or Quicktime
FLV videos using the H.263 video codec and the MP3 audio codec
MP4 videos using the H.264 video codec and the AAC audio codec
* We have had some trouble processing Apple QuickTime Pro files. Please convert this file type to an alternate format before attempting your upload.
* We do not currently support HD video. You will be able to upload an HD video, but the file will NOT be displayed in HD.Can someone tell me what specific steps I can take in FCP or Compressor because I am at a loss. I tried converting from HD to a cropped version of SD and it looks awful. Letterboxing would be okay. But there must be a simple way to do this?
