Yep it’s great- screen is solid and performance good. However, that said it cannot compete with the higher end CPU/GPU options on the Mac Pro if you want ultimate firepower.

Sorry but any clip you use needs to be in its entirety or the Project won’t work. Surely if your wife is worth it you can get another drive? 1TB external thunderbolt is as little as $100 these days…

Popping clicking is a sampling rate error. Make sure the source audio matches the project audio settings and anything MP3 or lower should be converted to AIF before importing into FCPX. Also make sure to check YouTube on another machine as it could simply be a playback problem specific to that compute.r

When you say echo do you mean when you have more than one audio track active in the multicam editor? If so that would indicate one audio is out of sync. Try moving it a frame or two forward/backward with the placement tool and see if the echo phases out. Make sure to have snapping off so that you can slide it by subframes.

I personally think most projects audio can be easily completed to a pro level in FCPX alone. The tradeoff when you go elsewhere is you lose the ability to continue making edits without a complex round trip and reconnect which is time-consuming. I *only* leave FCPX when I want to hand off a mix to a professional facility doing a high end mix in ProTools. If you stay in X you have good mixing, most of the Logic plugins and performance is solid.
If you go to Logic/ProTools you gain additional very high end plugins and also more traditional automated multitrack mixing capabilities. For most folks who are video production focused these are overkill and don’t outweigh the convenience of avoiding a round trip.
