FCPX 10.2.1 storage locations popup
I have installed FCPX 10.2.1 (on an iMac, been using previous versions on a Macbook Pro machine for a long time ), and it is dong a new thing that is driving me round the bend.
Ove and over again, I get the dialogue box:
Set storage location for the library “Library name”
with pull-down menus for Media, Cache and Backups locations. ‘OK’ or ‘Close library’ to exit the dialogue.
It doesn’t matter whether I set a new location, or an old location, or just leave things as ‘In library’, the dialogue is popping up so often it is making it very hard to work with.
I have tried resetting preferences, and repaired disk permissions.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on?
(I’m on 10.10.4, btw)

Thanks Noah – I just tried that, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Same behaviour. Although FCP did lock up (SBBOD while trying to import media) on its first post-re-install run, so I’ll give it another shot

You might have a drive or directory going bad. Seems like it keeps losing track of the drive or maybe just a directory. Have you repaired the disk?

Is your library and media on an external disk?

No, internal drive only. Though I think an external drive was probably connected at all times. The internal drive is partitioned so I have one 10.6.8 startup disk and one 10.10.4 (in order that I can still use some older software).
I replaced the internal HD a couple of months ago, so it should be good… maybe I’ll try using Libraries on an external drive and see what happens.
