I’ve been having this same problem and have been pulling my hair out for the last two days! I’ve followed the instructions as close to the letter as I know how – CAPS lock down and then up and all that jazz – but I’m having no success getting my filters to work correctly. By the way – I know this reveals extreme ignorance on my part, but what in the world is a CTI? I’ve been assuming they mean “playhead”, but I can’t find CTI anywhere in the FCP manual.

    I’m at a loss…

  • Let us know if you figure anything out. I really don’t think the 44.1 vs. 48k thing has anything to do with it – we’re fighting the same problem and all of our audio is captured at 48k. Not imported, captured. Granted, the audio is a seperate file than the video, but that’s because it’s coming from a seperate source. I agree, it is frustrating. Sometimes the problem doesn’t hit until you’re exporting a quicktime – at which point it randomly switches up the audio on you. When you go back to the timeline to fix the audio: everything’s fine.

We simply don’t have the time to edit an entire program together, and then go back and proof the entire export – but that’s what it’s coming down to.

Now wait a minute, I’m confused. I DO have to have BCC4, or I don’t? It seems like some are saying “follow the upgrade instructions” (which I’ve been trying to do by the way, no luck so far) and some are saying “upgrade your Boris” – which is it? I don’t have an intel machine – just the regular ol’ G5 (and that’s the way it’ll be for a loooong time I have a feeling). Thanks for clarifying for a bonehead.

Ahh, ok, I see your point. That makes sense.

Dropped frames? Do you mean the flashing pixels/lines problem? No, we never did get that solved. I’ve e-mailed Medea a couple of times and they are silent to me. I’m thinking of calling ATTO, but haven’t done it yet. We did make a rather big discovery the other day, the flashing pixels are introduced into the video even when merely copying the file from the Medea to an external drive. From that point on they’re permanent, of course.

I can give it a shot – I’m trying a workaround with Photoshop at the moment… we’ll get it one way or the other.

    Thanks for the response!

No… unfortunately that’s not helping. We trashed all the audio render files and that doesn’t seem to do it. We’re pulling our hair out on this one. It doesn’t make sense why they audio starts playing at the 40-seconds-in spot when the playhead clearly shows it’s at the beginning of the clip.

  • Great tip, thanks!

  • Well, that would be my guess too if I came across that post from someone else, so I totally understand your answer. But I could swear that I’m not moving at all. Ah well, it can be worked around, it just seems a pain…

November 30, 2006 at 10:19 pm in reply to: Flicker related to motion filtering quality?

Ah hah! If I remove the drop shadow, the graphic is fine as well. The flicker goes completely away and cleans up very nicely. So, I guess I’m limited to not using drop shadows? That doesn’t seem like a very good deal…

Don’t tell me, this is fixed in the crossgrade…
